PHOTO DEVELOPING SOLUTION |
Pick up the measuring cups (10oz, 1oz and 1gr) on the workbench with the basins. Where needed, water can be obtained from the water tank to the right of the workbench. |
A fairly comprehensive knowledge of chemistry formulae is necessary, so to save you the bother of doing your own research, the ones needed in the game are listed below: |
NATRIUM IS THE TECHNICAL TERM FOR SODIUM | NATRIUM (SODIUM) THIOSULPHATE | Na2S2O2 | NATRIUM (SODIUM) CARBONATE | Na2CO2 | SILVER NITRATE | Ag NO3 | GOLD CHLORIDE (Formula is actually for Trichloride) | Au Cl3 | AMMONIUM RHODANIDE | NH4SCN |
The various bottles containing the required chemicals are labelled in the graphics below: |
SHELF ABOVE THE BASINS |
TALL SHELF AGAINST OPPOSITE WALL |
If at any stage during the developing process you put an incorrect quantity or ingredient in a basin, it can be emptied by turning the red tap behind it. Also, any of the measuring cups can be emptied by pouring the contents back into the bottle you got it from. |

DEVELOP THE GLASS NEGATIVE |
Follow the instructions as detailed in the first three pages of the painter's notebook. |
1st Basin: | 40 ounces Water + 10 ounces Developing Solution | 2nd Basin: | 40 ounces Water + 10 ounces Natrium Thiosulphate | 3rd Basin: | 50 ounces Water + 5 ounces (5X1oz) Natrium Carbonate |
Turn off the red lamp and right-click the exposed negative in cassette (in your inventory) to remove the exposed glass negative from the now empty photo cassette. |
1st Basin: | submerge the exposed negative in cassette for 30 seconds | 2nd Basin: | submerge the exposed negative in cassette for 30 seconds | 3rd Basin: | submerge the exposed negative in cassette for 60 seconds |
You should now have a wet developed glass negative. Switch the red lamp on again and then place the wet developed glass negative on the rack next to the third basin to dry. |
Turn the red taps behind the basins to empty them out. |
SENSITIZE PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER |
Follow the instructions detailed on the fourth page of the painter's notebook. |
Take a sheet of photopaper from the top shelf of the wall cabinet. |
Any Basin: | 40 ounces Distilled Water + 10 ounces Silver Nitrate | | submerge the photopaper for 10 seconds |
Hang the wet sensitized photopaper on the rope, next to the other photographs. |
Turn the red tap (behind the basin you used) to empty it. |
SUNLIGHT COPY |
Follow the instructions detailed on the fifth page of the painter's notebook. |
Take the empty copyframe on the chair. Remove the developed glass negative (from the rack next to basins) and insert it into the empty copyframe. Next, remove the dry sensitized photopaper (from the rope) and also insert it into the loaded copyframe. |
Go outside and place the loaded copyframe on the rim of the well. Walk away from the well, wait for a few seconds and then take the sunlight-copy photo in copyframe from the rim of the well. |
DEVELOP THE PHOTOGRAPH |
Follow the instructions as detailed on pages six to eight of the painter's notebook. |
1st Basin: | 60 ounces Water | 2nd Basin: | 40 ounces Water + 1 ounce Gold Chloride + 1 gram Ammonium Rhodanide | 3rd Basin: | 40 ounces Water + 10 ounces Natrium Carbonate |
Remove the sunlight-copy photo by right clicking the sunlight-copy photo in copyframe. |
1st Basin: | submerge the sunlight-copy photo for 20 seconds | 2nd Basin: | submerge the washed photo for 80 seconds | 3rd Basin: | submerge the colorized photo for 80 seconds |
Any Basin: | empty the basin using the red tap behind it | | 60 ounces Water | | submerge the wet processed photo for 60 seconds |
Lastly, hang the wet final photo on the rope to dry. |
