Gameplay: Standard point-and-click interface. Your Escape (Esc) key can be used to bypass cutscenes and to either quit a case, access the main menu or resume your game (if pressed by accident). Navigation to and from locations in the branch office is done via the items in the lower, left-hand corner of the screen. All other navigation is done in the main screen.

Note: The game has a bonus case, as shown in the evidence room, but it cannot be played unless the player goes to the A&E website and downloads a 47.4 MB file. That file can be downloaded here. The developers did this, so that the player would be forced to go to A&E's website to learn more about the Cold Case Files television show (in order to get more viewers). Personally, I was annoyed by this more than anything. The bonus case does not need to be played in order to complete the game, and if the link to the bonus case ever goes down, you didn't miss anything. The bonus case is just as boring as the 6 cases before it. Update: The A&E link is not found anymore.

  • Talk to the lab technician (exhaust all dialogue).
  • Go back to the office then read the new message.
  • Go back to the lab and talk to the lab technician (exhaust all dialogue).
  • Go to the office then click on the files, on the table, to 'View Case File.'
  • Click on the Roy Johnson, Suspect tab then click on the handcuffs to 'Make Arrest.'
