MILITARY CAMP

While waiting outside Colonel Kordsmeier's tent examine the notebook on the desk to learn that the handwriting closely resembles yours. This may well come in handy later in the game. Pay attention to the conversation between Leslie and the colonel as it contains a clue to something that has to be done later.

Although it won't help much, discuss all possible dialog topics with Colonel Kordsmeier until he has you escorted out of the camp.

LUANA BEACH

Go to the Hawaiian Bar and talk to Lokelani. Pay close attention to everything she says, in particular the names of her ex-boyfriends, as you need this information later. Remove the cigar holder out of the ashtray on the floor and take the chalkboard on the bar counter.

Try talking to the guy dressed as a monk in the shack, but his only response is to nod or shake his head. Give him the chalkboard and then continue the conversation. Unfortunately the chalk runs out before you learn anything useful from him. There's a cable hanging over the railing of the shack, but you can't take it as the end is caught in the roots of a palm tree.

Examine the Bucking Bronco, taking note of the trapdoor leading to the machinery.

Go behind the panel of the Photo Stand (wooden structure) to find a coin slot. You learn that it takes tokens rather than regular coins.

After going to the Bucking Bronco and Photo Stand new dialog topics will be activated with Lokelani when you talk to her. She tells you that the Photo Stand is working, but probably not plugged in. She also tells you that tokens are often dropped in the cracks of the platform. She says that the Bucking Bronco hasn't worked for a long time.

Go to the basement entrance next to the Visitor Centre stairs. The basement doors are sealed by a wooden board, preventing you from entering. Open the garbage container to find a stick of butter.

You find soldier O'Connor behind the Visitor Centre. He tells you about being a lumberjack and that he's an expert tree climber. You learn that he's waiting for Professor Pignon, who is to be escorted into the military camp. Take note that he has a photo of Professor Pignon in his book. Speak to him about chalk, to learn it can be made with a mixture of grated plaster and gum arabic placed in a test tube. Examine the nearby palm tree, noting that it's full of sap. As the cigar holder resembles a test tube, use it to take some sap (similar to gum arabic) from the palm tree.

ALAULA COVE

To get to Alaula Cove go back to the highway. Knife agrees to lend you his motorboat if you can find somewhere for him to surf. From his comment about 'balance and foresight' (the same words that Lokelani used) you realize he could use the Bucking Bronco to surf on if it can be fixed.

Talk to Kai, taking note that Koala has hidden his prosthetic leg and that his grandfather specialized in bringing dead poultry back to life.

Take the rope and talcum powder lying on the floor next to the shack. The talcum powder is similar to grated plaster, so put it in the cigar holder to mix it with the sap and make a piece of chalk.

Go to the miniature dock (to the left) and take the toolbox.

LUANA BEACH

Give the chalk you made to the guy dressed as a monk to continue your conversation with him. You eventually learn that he's Joshua, a character from Runaway One. He agrees to repair the Bucking Bronco for you. After he goes through the trapdoor give him the toolbox and butter.

Leave the Bucking Bronco and when you return, speak to Joshua who tells you there's no electrical current. For now there's nothing you can do about it. You need the butter elsewhere, so take it from where Joshua leaves it.

Return to the shack and grease the end of the steel cable with the butter, after which you can untie it. Note that you must have tried You

Go to the basement entrance and hook the steel cable onto the board across the doors. You aren't strong enough to pull the board loose, so you need to find another way of doing it.

Go to soldier O'Connor and give him the rope to get him to climb the tree. When he leaves to climb the tree, remove the photograph of Pignon (from the book) and also 'borrow the hummer' to pull the steel cable attached to board across the basement doors.

Open the doors and enter the basement. Look in the room under the stairs to find a metal detector. Examine the circuit-breaker panel carefully, noting that the levers for the Bucking Bronco and Photo Stand are in the down position. If you raise them the main switch trips, so there's obviously either a short or an overload. Lower (turn off) the circuit-breakers for Lokelani's Place, the Seafood Kahuna and Visitor Centre, then raise (turn on) the circuit-breakers for the Bucking Bronco and Photo Stand to provide electrical current to them.

Return to the Bucking Bronco to see that it's now working. After testing it out, go to Alaula Cove and talk to Knife to get him to come and surf on the Bucking Bronco.

The next part of your plan is getting Lokelani to make you look like Professor Pignon. You've already got a picture of him, but you need one of you. You can't get under the platform (at the Photo Stand) to look for tokens, so release the lemur under the platform to fetch it. The lemur finds a token but he wants a beer before giving it to you. Go to the Hawaiian Bar and ask Lokelani for a beer. If you paid attention during your conversations with her you will know the names of the first three ex-boyfriends she asks you about. She never mentions the surname of her ex-boyfriend Brian, so you have to get this one by using a process of trial and error.

Give the beer to the lemur (under the platform) and he gives you the token. Go behind the panel and insert the token into the coin slot. You've now got the second picture (Hawaiian photo souvenir) that you need for Lokelani to do your makeover.

After giving the photograph of Pignon and the Hawaiian photo souvenir to Lokelani, she goes to her place to prepare the makeover. Note that you must have discussed this dialog topic with her before giving her the photographs. Watch carefully when Aolani (the parrot) flies off, noting that it goes into the palm tree near soldier O'Connor.

Go to soldier O'Connor and ask him to get the parrot out the tree. You take the opportunity to insert the doctored photo into his book. Instead of climbing the tree to get Aolani, O'Connor shoots it.

ALAULA COVE

You know that Kai's grandfather used to revive dead poultry, so give Aolani to him. Unfortunately he doesn't remember where his grandfather's ritual hut is. Do you recall the conversation between the colonel and Leslie in the military camp? The colonel asked Leslie to find the co-ordinates for where his shipment of cigars would arrive. Perhaps you could get Leslie to locate the ritual hut for you.

MILITARY CAMP

Talk to the soldier at the military camp entrance about seeing the colonel. While Leslie is gone from his desk, write an order to 'locate hut in the northwest part of the island' into his notebook. You won't learn anything new from Colonel Kordsmeier, so select the last dialog topic to leave the camp.

Again speak to the soldier to go back to Colonel Kordsmeier. Before Leslie ushers you in, you hear him tell the colonel that he has the co-ordinates for the uninhabited hut and Brian writes them down on a paper with co-ordinates. Again select the last dialog topic to leave the camp.

LUANA BEACH

Go to soldier O'Connor and ask him about a GPS device. He tells you he lost it while being chased about by a rowdy kid.

ALAULA COVE

Enter the shack, where you see Koala playing with a video game controller. When you examine the video game controller you discover that it's the GPS that O'Connor lost. Koala won't let you take the GPS, so give the lemur (Little Demon) to him. After picking up the GPS outside the shack, enter the co-ordinates (on the paper with co-ordinates) into the GPS to find the ritual hut.

Although you automatically go to the ritual hut, you can't do anything there without Kai, so return to Alaula Cove. Tell Kai about finding the hut, but he needs his prosthetic leg to go there with you. Use the metal detector on the sand turtle that Koala made to find Kai's bogus leg. Give the bogus leg to Kai, and the two of you head off to the ritual hut.

RITUAL HUT

Speak to Kai (wooden throne) to get more information about his grandfather's grimarium. You learn that it has metal book covers and was probably buried with him in his coffin. Remove the turtle shell from the wall between the two large tikis.

Go outside to the cemetery and use the metal detector on any of the graves. Note that this can only be done after Kai has told you about the metal book covers. Use the turtle shell (as a shovel) to dig up the grave and find the grimarium.

The rest of chapter is completed in the form of a fairly lengthy cut scene.
