GINGERBREAD COOKIES SOLUTION

Begin by identifying the various ingredients and utensils. Note that if you hover the cursor over an ingredient, a description is displayed. There are two measuring cups - the large one (250ml) is equivalent to one cup and the smaller one (125ml) is equivalent to a half cup. The bigger of the two spoons is obviously a tablespoon, and the smaller one a teaspoon.

All the ingredients except common sense are measured with one or other utensil. The only ingredient that this applies to is an egg, so you immediately know one of the ingredients.

The recipe is divided into three separate stages. In the first, three ingredients (generosity, sweetness and love) must be CREAMED together. In the second, three ingredients (commitment, sensuality and romance) must be SIFTED together. Knowing this, and applying basic baking knowledge the ingredients can be worked out.

A typical recipe provides for butter, sugar and milk to be 'creamed' together. Clearly 'sweetness' must be brown sugar. It is also logical that the mixture should contain more milk than butter, so 'one cup of love' must be milk and the 'half cup of generosity' is the butter.

Only dry ingredients can be 'sifted' together - so commitment, sensuality and romance must relate to the flour, ginger and cinnamon. Logically, the major ingredient (two cups of commitment) is the flour. Seeing that you are baking gingerbread cookies, there should be more ginger (tablespoon of romance) than cinnamon (teaspoon of sensuality) included.

You know that 'one common sense' is an egg, so the remaining ingredient has to be the molasses.
