Having a problem with Atlantis 3, in Baghdad. I cannot find the merchant's daughter. After the cat has demolished the vase, I go through the double doors, but I go straight into the wizard's garden. No interesting diversion to hide under the bed, and be told I have to find a black rose. Could it be that my version of the game (which is the DVD Collector's Edition) varies from the version upon which the walkthrough is based? If that is the case, presumably I could go ahead, but if I don't know that I must find a black rose, and even if I do find one, what would I do with it....?

Hi petert,
MaG's walkthrough states: The jar breaks and the guard comes. Immediately enter the door across the balcony.
And Malcolm's walkthrough says: As soon as the cat knocks over the vase, enter the door directly ahead.
Can you see any other doors apart from those double doors?

Hi,
I just finished the game. When you reached the balcony the double doors should have been right in front of you - before the cat and the vase. After the cat and the vase, the double doors should be to the left. You click on the doors and they do a scene about a thief in the house and the girl is in her bed and the scene states that the thief hides under the bed...... You finally end up in the Wizard's garden to find the black rose.

Nope, didn't work. As soon as the pesky feline does the vase a severe mischief, I am faced with the double doors across from the balcony, and the "Stay where you are" message. I only get the 'move forward' icon, not the interactive icon, and the 3 possible ways I can go - left, right, or straight through the doors - don't seem to help me at all. Going left or right, to try and find other doors, results immediately in the appearance of the evil looking, scimitar-wielding bloke, and straight ahead gets me into the wizard's garden. No bedroom in sight.

Here's yet another quote from a WT: Once you're safe again, take the ladder and prop it up against the balcony above and behind you. Climb up. Once at the top, head towards the door in front of you. What? Not that cat again! Good kitty, be quiet, don't make any noise . . . . oh no . . . rats, stupid cat! Okay, must think, must think. The door! Go through the door! Once inside, you'll meet a young girl who lets you hide under her bed. They all seem to tell the same tale. Perhaps if you send your saved game to somebody, they could play this scene and help you out.

petert, Maybe this will work for you, also. I could not get this to work like the walkthroughs state – it took me too long to keep the cursor on the hot spots on the ladder and the balcony, and I kept getting killed by the guard (on the lower level). So, after picking up the ladder, I quickly right-clicked twice to put the ladder in inventory and close inventory. Then I quickly panned right until I got the forward cursor and clicked on it to go back to the pot area where I started (avoiding the lower-level guard and stopping the timer for this part). Then I took the ladder out of inventory, returned to the balcony, put it under the balcony (where the walkthroughs say), and climbed up. Doing it this way, the cat didn't appear but the guard did almost immediately so, once I got to the top of the ladder, I had to quickly enter the room directly in front of me. Hope this helps. Jema

It seems as though the lack of the black rose did not make any difference to continuing the game. I picked it up from the strange cabinet (didn't get any wishes from the genie and didn't even know he was there), exited from the tower and ended up back in Hoggar, explaining the dolphin's instructions and, of course, being told to get on with it. I didn't actually do anything with the rose at all - as I thought, the game could not take me back to where I had not been (if you follow my logic!).
Perhaps when I finish the game, I will save my saves somewhere, uninstall the game then reinstall it, and play from the courtyard to see if it was a bad install in the first place.

I am not sure if I missed any devilish puzzles - I don't think I did. I had to solve all the puzzles in the wizard's garden - unicorn maze, funny little dwarf tower, constellations and strange cabinet - to actually get the rose. It was simply that, when I did the lamp rubbing bit, the rose appeared, but I did not get a choice of wishes because the genie never showed up. Following that, I got my instructions from the dolphin and ended up on the home straight, so to speak.

Correction. I am not on the home straight, because I cannot move into Shambala. None of the dialogue with the old folk will work. I keep clicking on the icon of the pair of them when talking to the woman, but when I do, I get the "You were expecting me" on the screen but can get no further.
When I went back to the original glitch, I discovered that the sound of the guard's voice had disappeared. As I often play these games with the sound turned down, I had not noticed this before. The cat's mew is still there, but no guard's voice. This also applies to the 2 people greeting me in Shambala - no sound.
The plot thickens.
I did uninstall and reinstall the game, but it made no difference to the glitch. I guess it's probably a duff disc?

Hi petert, I just did some Googling and found a patch for Atlantis III hereI don't know what it fixes but, if you can't get a save, you might want to try it before you give up. I also don't know if your current saves will work after the game is patched - with some games they do, with others not. I also searched for a no-cd patch, but had no luck with that. Good luck. Jema

Thanks, Jema. I don't have any saves for this game, so let's wait for help here.
