Do you mean you get the dreaded blue screen?. Check out Windows 7 and games (1st post on this forum) there is a work around near the bottom, you have to edit the 'scream' file.

Wellllll actually I dont get a "blue" screen. When I posted my help question, I thought my computer was shutting down but later realized it was trying to shut down and couldnt. Does that make sense? So while waiting for a response I found the Windows 7 thread. Theres just one problem, I am very new to windows 7 and cant figure out exactly what to do. Can someone explain it like you are talking to a 5 yr old? Like, click the blue circle, etc. Seriously, please(oh quit laughing, lol)

Wow I cant believe that no one has responded to this. Is there no one here that can explain this to me in the most basic of terms?

This is what is says in the thread about games and Windows7. I personally haven't tried the game at all.

Scratches installed, but trying to play the game caused a BSOD and a memory dump. Upsydaisy reported the same result on her newly installed Windows 7. I tried playing both from a full installation and playing from the disk - same result.

EDIT for Scratches. Inland and I found a work-around posted by the game developer. You must edit the Scream.CFG file. To accomplish this in Windows 7, go to C:/Program Files/Nucleosys/Scratches. Find the Scream.CFG file and right click. Select Properties and from within that window, change the Open With option to either Notepad or Word Pad. Change the Rate from 0 to 60. Save the file, exit and restart the game.

What kind of magic spell to use?

I get to the save part and it says this file already exists, do you want to replace it? I click yes and it wont let me do it. Any suggestions?

Right-click the Scream.cfg file, choose Properties, make sure the box for the Read-only attribute is NOT checked. If it is checked, uncheck it and save the change. Then try editing the file again.

I must be doing something wrong. It wont let me save. Not even sure if I am in the right place. Would someone tell me how to get to the C:/program files/necleosys/scratches? Not even sure if I am doing that right.

msweetstuff, I don't have the game installed but I can guide you generally. Go to the Computer icon on your desktop and click on it. On the screen that comes up, click on the name of the main hard disk drive - that should be C. [Mine says HP (C:).] You'll see Program files just a little way down. Click on that and look for Nucleosys and, inside that, Scratches.

Gil.

Just a few more things:
1) Are you running your Win7 with Administrator rights?
2) You can go to your Windows Explorer as usual, but this time, do a search for Scream.cfg and once the search is finished that file should POP up and from there you can follow the previous instructions provided for you.
3)If you are still having problems with “Saving” that file, you can try one of the great suggestions from the Moderators or members of this Forum:

Uninstall the game, then re-install the game making sure NOT to install it in the Program Files directory.

No, I'm the dumb one for assuming your desktop is like mine. <g>

If there's no Computer icon there, just click on Start (the round Windows icon at the far left of the task bar at the bottom) and choose Computer from the menu.

That's because you have to start Windows Explorer elevated. Right click the program shortcut (for Windows Explorer) and select Run as Administrator. After that, locate the scream.cfg file and make your changes.

I still have not solved my problem with this game. I checked to see if the read only attribute was checked and it wasnt. I dont have a computer icon on my desktop, but if I click the start button I get a box that says computer and start from there, but having to double click everything. And then once I change the 0 to 60 it wont let me save. It tells me the file already exists, do I want to replace it, I click yes, then it tells me access has been denied. Beginning to think I'm not going to be able to play this game. PLEASE HELP
Did not see the previous 3 posts before I posted this. Gonna give those suggestions a try. Cross your fingers!!!!!

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories - Right click Notepad and select Run as Administrator. Follow the path to the CFG file, open it, and save your changes.
