Thanks for the review, Flotsam and Becky! I've been waiting for this game to come to Best Buy - we do seem to get every new adventure game, not to mention we just got some more copies of The Whispered World - but it still hasn't arrived yet. I may have to cave in and order it online.

Nice review! Personally I enjoyed the game. I was expecting high things of Future Games as I absolutely loved the first Black Mirror. That game had such a fantastic atmosphere of rural England, so I was excited to learn that Alter Ego would be following the same style. I think they managed to create the same atmosphere for a lot of the game, particularly Tim's sections: dark, overcast, rain, lightning, wailing wind, lurking horror. As for plot and puzzles, there really wasn't enough horror for me compared to Black Mirror, and the puzzles seemed a little easier. I also felt that the game seemed a tad unfinished, a bit like the first Chronicles of Mystery game. Nothing too dreadful, just lacking in descriptions of objects and decent, meaty conversations. Black Mirror felt like a complete whole, with plenty of conversation and lots of things to look at and examine that sucked you into the world, whereas Alter Ego's interactivity seemed limited to the bare essentials for each puzzle. Overall a good game, probably a B- for me. Black Mirror is still one of my favourites.

Thanks Flotsam and Becky, I had a little trouble getting this game to run right and had to change some of the settings but after that it ran smoothly. I really enjoyed this game. I'm hoping for a sequel also.
