In april 2006 a group of spanish developers announced a new game called "The Enigma of the Abbey", freely based on Eco's book "The Name of the Rose". The developers have been working hard in these past couple of years and finally they announce that the game will be ready in 2009. Here's the story: It's the 14th-Century, and in 1327 a conclave is held in an Italian abbey of Benedictine monks to decide if the Church should give some of its wealth to the poor. A Franciscan monk and his young assistant are invited to debate on these topics. During the days of their stay, several friars of the Abbey are murdereed. The Abbot, knowing about the Franciscan's enormous shrewdness, ask him to investigate the crimes. The arrival of a sadistic inquisitor, eager to torture the condemned and take them to the stake for heresy, puts in alert the wise monk. A battle between both men and Franciscan and Benedictine ideologies starts, while the mysterious murders of friars follow...
“El Enigma de la Abadía” is a new generation adventure, you have full freedom of action and multiple option to get the key of a problem. It will be one of the few adventure games with a living world, in which our actions will be rewarded or penalized. Hundreds of different plots inside this adventure that we should solve and which would incite us to play it. All of them in a 3D scenary, with the ability to control multiple characters and where the time is a determining factor when it comes to solving complicated enigmas. Do you think you are smart enough? Have a look at the official website HERE, download a beautiful new trailer HERE and see some screenshots in our gallery HERE :christmas:

I wondered what happened to this one! As I recall, the music was really good that they teased us with back then.
