I am trying to move the levers at the base of the heat pipes, but no luck. I have dropped the slate and the Bahro picks it up but he doesn't raise his arms like someone said he would. When I go to the controls, I can't access them. Any ideas? I am dropping the slate at the spot indicated in the walkthrough and have drawn the symbol on it also.

Della, just to check.. have you moved all the hut levers to the right first? That controls water/steam flow into those big pipes with the red and blue switches, and if there is no flow into them, the switches won't rise up when the heat symbol is on.

What symbol are you drawing on the slate for heat?
It is something you will see etched on the cliff face above the pedestal with the anchor-like symbol on it ..
I had to draw that a few times before Bahro recognized it and did his little arms raised heat dance for me.

Thanks for the reply. I did find out that he wasn't recognizing my drawing. After I erased it and redrew it, he did his dance. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to set the levers, so it's back to the drawing board for me...lol

Hey Della,
You shouldn't actually have to redraw it yourself. If you were successful once with the heat symbol, there will be a little copy of it on the bottom left of your slate. Next time you need it, erase anything that is on your slate, touch the little copy, and the slate will redraw it for you! laugh

I am still trying to thaw the lake! In the w/t it tells me to go to the controls on the left (with the blue dots)... the controls on the left have orange dots... I have set the levers as in the w/t with no success... could this be a misprint? Or should I have taken the "other left"?

There are 2 sets of controls.
Blue ones and Orange ones.
They are across from each other, on each side of the lake front.

The Blue controls should be set to
Right/Left/Left

The Orange controls should be set to
Left/Right/Left

Good luck!

Let me know if you get across the lake after getting this done...I still can't do that.

Never mind about right or left, it depends on which direction you are facing for that, and it is just confusing. Just go by blue switches, and red/orange switches. There are only the two sets.

OK...at the control with the blue dots I can make the center and right levers move to the right, but I can't make the left lever move to the left. Surely I must be doing something wrong?

hrmmm..I had different positions for my blue switches...

R L L

The switches are a little odd in their movement too. Like dadguy, I found it easier to move when I put my cursor hand down closer to the roundish part as opposed to trying to grab them from the straight part of the switch. So, to move one to the L, put your cursor near the round part, toward the L side, and click down and hold your mouse button and then pull it over to the left. See if that will work.

back again... sorry. I made sure that I'm at the proper controls and I can't get the levers to move in the proper direction... this is way too frustrating. This is getting to the point where I don't want to play anymore... I am so sick of going back to that bubble to retrieve the slate... oh well...

thanks for the advice drdel... i got the levers to move at last. A path appeared, but it doesn't go all the way across the lake. I checked all the levers on the towers..all pointing to the right... any suggestion?

I just followed the path..ahead, right, left, left, ahead, right and off to the other bank. Provided the switches are in their correct positions, you should be able to hop off to the other side.

Oh, I forgot to mention, you need to do this while the heat is still on.. as soon as it goes off, the steam shuts down and the bacteria go back to sleep ...your path will disappear then! laugh

I get to walk ahead, right, ahead and then left... doesn't take me to the other side. could it be that the lever positions are different in different games? Do the position of the levers have something to do with where the orange and blue circles are located on the diagram in the hut? Mine appear to be: blue circles: left, center and right/orange circles: left, left and right. Where are yours?

Well, I think it isn't so much where on the diagram the circles are, as which direction you want them to divert water/steam flow (ie. the blue and red circles represent valves inside those pipes and you can channel the water/steam in which direction you want).
so, for my blue switches I set them Right, Left, Left.
For my red/orange switches, I set them Left, Right, Left.

I have committed the blunder of all blunders... I am on Noloben... remember that part that said "Save Game here!!!" Well, I thought I saved the game, but evidently I did not! Not only did I not save the game, but I loaded a previously saved game which took me back to the beginning!!!

I am in really dire need of a game saved at this point... help anyone?

Della,

If you don't get there in time, just walk back and try again... I had much more time than I needed and I was a bit leisurely in my walking.

Well, I managed to get back to where I messed up...again. I walked as quickly as I could to the island, but before I got there I could see the rock reforming...too late. Tell me, do you have to touch the symbol on the floor under the lens before you drop the slate? When I tried it the first time, I didn't touch the symbol, dropped the slate and walked down and the rock never dissolved...

I didn't do that.

What did you draw on your slate?
I found I actually had to wait a bit for the rock to dissolve while I was standing there in front of it! I nearly left before it happened.
You can sort of 'run' too; just hold the left mouse down a bit, that will take you pretty quickly along, especially through the cave part.

I drew the snake symbol on the slate and dropped it. When I touched the symbol on the floor, the symbol turned blue and the rock dissolved and reformed before I could get there... when I didn't touch the symbol, I stood in front of the rock for at least three minutes and nothing ever happened...

No need to touch the symbol. Just drop the slate, run (you know you can hold the SHIFT button down along with the left mouse button and you will move faster) to the pedestal behind you, link to the Home pedestal, run out of the bubble to the left and go through the tunnel and run across the water (again, use the SHIFT key to run fast). When I did this I had to wait for almost a minute for the rock to open!!

Good luck.

got through the rock in the wall into the Keep. Am now at the point where I have met Esher and released the slate. Next problem.... I pressed the bottom sign to get linked back into the first linking bubble.. it took me back to the beach. I then pressed the sign on the center part of the pedestal to get linked back to Direbo... first, there is no slate on the pedestal to take.. and second, there is no house to walk to... where am I? and what have I done wrong now?

If you pressed the correct link in Nobelen (the one in the center with three rectangles sticking upward), you will be taken back to Direbo. You won't have the slate.

Then, if you have opened all of the gates to the bridges (per Bert's walkthrough) you can walk over the bridge to the next island and continue the game by using a different bubble and link to the next Age. If you haven't opened all of the bridge gates, then you'll have to link back to the Great Shaft and find the next sleeping room where there will be another link to Direbo.

Good luck,

Dadguy

Thanks so much you guys. I was looking for stairs, not a bridge. Got it.
