Hi, I am curious to see if most people here are diehard adventure gamers or not. I am wondering what other types (if any) of PC games you people play. I enjoy adventure games alot but, I do play other games. I also enjoy simulation games a great deal. I play Grand Prix Legends (THE racing simulation game), Formula 1 2001, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, Motocross Madness 2, Rally Trophy, Nascar Racing 2002. Can you tell that I like racing games? What other types of games do you like to play?

I enjoy a good rpg or action game if it's not too bloody. I'm pretty sensitive to that stuff, so try not to buy games that mention gore. One of the first games I played years ago was Xeen, and that was fun. JMK
Playing "World of Warcraft", "Oblivion",and "Silent Hill 2"

Snowmoon, You must install The Sims right now It is more fun than you can imagine and it really is not difficult to play. As a matter of fact, the game has a built-in tutorial that explains everything. Just mess around with it and you will be having a great time.

I tend to classify puzzle games (like Pandora's Box) along with adventure games for some reason, but if you want to count them separately, then I play those two kinds.
The only non-adventure type game I play is Diablo....

I play adventure games or adventure/action hybrids ( wild wild west, In Cold Blood) for the most part.
But I also love jump and runs with some shooting like Indiana Jones and The IF, Tomb Raider ....
I like hybrids FSP's like Hitman, NOLF (such a great game!!), Medal of Honor, Max Payne. They are shooters - but they have strategy factors where you have time to plan your attack or approach. Also stealth elements. Medal of Honor probably had the shortest time to react - but I loved the intervening stuff and I got real good at saving and ducking.
I have started loving Grand Theft Auto and will be getting Vice City. I also thought Shenmue was great. Hmmm Final Fantasy 9. Some other console games as well.
I haven't really played many strategy games because I don't like the little tiny people part of them. But I do like the Gettysburgh series - probably just because it is military history based.
I like puzzle games like Pandora, Safecracker, Milo and such.
I havn't played many RPG's except Final Fantasy and I suppose Deus Ex, though I thought of that as more like a hybrid. The turn based fighting isn't my favorite thing.
I don't really like standard action FSP's except for a rare game of Doom.

Mostly adventure games for the past fifteen years or so, but I also love the later Might and Magic RPGs (6,7, and 8 - not 9)and tend to replay them every so often, when I want something a little faster paced. I have dabbled a bit with Diggles, and it is really cute (stategy). I didn't much care for the Sims, but the new Sims Unleashed has PETS, so I may have to give that a try. I also enjoy Alchemy, Bejeweled and Roller Coaster Tycoon - all addicting.

I play mainly adventure and RPG's. I will give just about any non hybrid single player RPG a try. I include puzzle games when I say adventure genre.
Other genres I like are action-RPGs: Vampire, Deus Ex, etc
action/adventure: Outcast, Tomb Raider,etc
FPS's: Max Payne, NOLF, Alice, Undying, etc
Fantasy turn based strategy such as HOMM series and Disciples I like but rarely have the time to play them. RPG's are very time consuming.
Games like The Sims and Roller coaster tycoon I have but haven't even started them.
Laura: You mentioned Grand Theft Auto 3. How much of the game is driving and how much is on foot. I do have the game. Do you have a wheel. I find the keyboard and mouse do not work very well for driving.

Zanthia, That is a great point about GTA. Most of it's driving - or in my case, I should say crashing and grabbing new cars. I have been playing it on the PS2 - but looked at it for PC. A steering wheel would make a remarkable difference in the game play. Or at least the number of times you have to reload to finish jobs. This is going to sound dense, but do they make wheels to use with the PS2? The new sequel looks even more amazing. Twice the game environment, internal locations, substantially enhanced AI on the NPC's and in particular gangs and such. Laura

Come on, let's keep this one going! Anyone else care to share the other types of PC games that they play?

I've become a total RPG freak, in addition to my first love of adventures. I've mostly played "American" style RPGs, but have lately been learning to play the VERY different Japanese RPGs.
I love any kind of Adventure or RPG hybrid, with the exception of lame action/adventures. Those have to be pretty darned good to get my attention.
I'll play some action games, both 1st and 3rd person, if they have something "extra" -- either a really great story (Star Trek Voyager Elite Force) or amazing design (American McGee's Alice) or incredible technical wizardry (Max Payne) or a very strong mission structure.
I'm a fiend for the almost unclassifiable Thief games, and I think any adventure player who doesn't give these two incredible titles a try is needlessly missing a profoundly great game experience.
I love puzzle games, but don't play them much. I hugely admire Pandora's Box. I played and enjoyed all the Jewels games.
I love turned based strategy as well. LOVE Heroes of Might and Magic.
I'm interested in any game that tries to think out of the "genre" box (Deus Ex, the first System Shock, Outcast).
I've tried, but just don't have the right kind of brain to play Real Time Strategy games. I wish I did, because there's a lot of great ones out there.
I'm not interested in God Games (SimBathroom, SimUniverse, SimGirdle, the Sims) or Create and Empire and Take Over the World games (Civilization, Caesar, Tropico, Roller Coaster Tycoon).
I'm not interested in flight or driving simulators or any kind of sports games (what a surprise!).
As it is, I like so many different kind of games that my life is a constant misery of playing catch up. If only someone would agree to support me so I could sit and game on my 8 platforms (PC, GameBoy Advance, XBox, GameCube, PS2, Nintento, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64) for 8 to 12 hours a day as God intended, I would be happy. IS THAT SO WRONG?!?!?!
Procrastinate NOW!! Don't put it off!!
