Coffee this morning, and lots of it! Went to bed last night a spring chicken and woke up this morning a senior citizen. And I mean that literally. 65. Ouch! Wasn't I 35 just a minute ago? We had torrential rain last night so our fire risk should be much lower now, and the garden is much happier for it. It's still overcast, promising even more rain later today. Hopefully the Interior is getting some, too.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I seldom eat breakfast as I'm just not hungry. But I fixed a big breakfast for the Iowa folks before they left this morning and ate with them. Sitting here with a cup of coffee and feeling like I need to go back to bed! I'm stuffed so I will leave the bagels, donuts and Danish for everyone else!

Just remembered I was cooking rice. It should have been done about 40 minutes ago. I'm afraid to take the lid off the pan and look at it! Julia Child once said (I'm paraphrasing) that if you make a mistake when you have company for dinner, carry on as if it's the way it was meant to be. Just pretend it's Persian rice, with the nice crispy crust on the bottom.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hi Everyone, I've been bogged down by doc appts to the point I can barely stand it anymore. PT, chiro and making time for regular appts put off from first two. I used to be right on the ball, making appts when I knew they were due, no excuses, gotta do what's gotta be done. Not any more. I've cancelled and put off some if only because I'm tired and it's nothing really, really urgent. I was 3 months over due to my dermatologist (exsema); squeezed time to get in there for the whole 10 minutes I spent with him so he would renew my prescription. Had 2 eye appts to learn about and get help for mild return of cataracts (there's a name for it). Mostly in my right eye. I can see reading chart fine but mostly noticable when I drive. Trying saline drops to get rid of cataract tissue. May need to use glasses for driving in future. I've been assured it's common with aging. Don't like that; but at least I know what's going on. That was all last week. I was exhausted on Friday. Kept yawning when talking with friend in my house. Also had my pooch to vet for annual go over. His weight and heart are fine, but he has very little muscle tone in his legs. No more jumping up or down on sofa, into car or to greet people. Play care staff keep young, rambuntious dogs away from him, a place on side for him when he's tired. Mostly he enjoys following them around the place, which they get a kick out of. Vet thinks he has arthritis and has ordered meds for him. Otherwise his general happy demeanor is still there. He turned 9 in May but, to me, he looks and acts older. Using my AC more than I have for a long time due to humidity; even when in high 60s, temp in my home goes up to 75. I'm grateful for rain.
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

Butterflybabe, I'm sorry to hear about that. I know what it's like to be bogged down with health appointments -- we go through that periodically around here. It sometimes feels as though it'll never stop. I hope your eyes turn out to be okay once you've got the glasses.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Butterflybabe, I think all of us "of a certain age" can understand how you feel. I know we go through periods of not checking to see IF we have doctor appointment, but HOW MANY in a week. I have things coming up like a mammogram and a colonoscopy. I don't mind doing either, but will be glad to have them over and done with! I also have age related cataracts, but they aren't bad enough for surgery just yet. I wear glasses all the time now. So, good for you for keeping up with your health issues and maintenance. And even better for you to take a break from it all!

I've got time for some of that Sumatra dark roast this morning. Company came yesterday and cut a hole in the foundation to the crawl space under the dining room. They put in an I-beam and some pneumatic jacks to bring up the floor and stabilize it. Now when my 6' 6" hubby walks by my computer the floor doesn't shake! Some people say they used to build houses 100 years ago to last. Ummm... not so much! Their idea of bracing a 2 story farmhouse was a piece of firewood on a rock! So relieved to have this done even though it cost an arm and a leg. Juan and Cesar did a great job crawling around and working in an 18" high space that hubby gave them each a $50 tip.
