Good morning all.
I woke up at 3 am, and remembered that the antibiotic I was given for my surgery is of the class that gives me insomnia -- could be a sleepy week. But it looks like a nice day, so I can just read on the deck with my cat in my lap.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Sounds like the perfect day, hagatha. I'm still recovering from our trip up to NW Iowa to visit my family for the first time in 3 1/2 years last weekend! It's a 10 hour drive each way. We had a great time reconnecting with family. I have a boatload of great nieces and nephews who have grown up SO much! Everyone came to my sister's house Saturday night and we went through the worst hail storm any of us had ever experienced - even up there where severe weather is common! Tornados on the ground on both sides of us less than a mile away, winds gusting to 80 mph and hail the size of baseballs and softballs. My sister's garage is huge and we scrambled to move tables so we could get as many vehicles inside as possible. Got 5 of them inside just as it hit. Two older cars we couldn't get in are toast... broken windshields, glass inside, mirrors torn off, bodies destroyed. It was pretty epic! But in between storms, we managed to eat and still have a good time.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Not normally, oldbroad!! Trust me, it's Iowa... the food and beer was consumed between the storms!

That was some storm!
BrownEyedTigre, I'll just take a sleeping pill if I can't sleep tonight. No sense in suffering if I don't have to.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Uithoorn looks lovely (on Google)! It's very lovely. Away from the big city and still very close to Amsterdam. I have been living in Hillegom since just before 2019 and every spring the whole countryside is filled with flower bulb fields. Daffodils, hyacinths, tulips in all kinds of colors. Our neighboring town has one of the biggest flower exhibitions in the world: The Keukenhof. Still haven't been able to visit there unfortunately.

Good morning everyone I agree Connie ... the fields of blooming flowers in the Netherlands look wonderful ... I'll bet it's heavenly in person ... we used to have a flower festival in Lompoc California which was incredible ... I'll grab a Danish to take back to the office with me this morning .. I brought a pot of an earthy blend of Sumatra coffee this morning and a cooler filled with bottled Fiji water [330ml, 500ml and 1L] for the Break Room Have a great T.G.I.F. day everyone

The break room is nicely stocked with goodies this morning!
Where I'm from in NW Iowa, we have several towns that almost exclusively Dutch. Orange City has a Tulip Festival every year and it's almost more color and beauty than your eyes can take in! They have a big parade and our marching band would go there to participate.

A good week-end to you all. My fireman son is now 46 year old. Boy that time past rapidely. The temp is good to do some work in the flowers beds and possibly to wash some windows. If not, a good walk and reading could be the best thing to do. Take care. l4l, I'm also waiting for the next book of Gamache.

Chief, Happy Birthday to your son! Your plans for the day sound wonderful, except for the window washing part. I do love freshly cleaned windows, but am not fond of washing them. I'm just finishing in the kitchen. I've been doing prep work for the coming week, but now am down for the night. Hope you all have had a wonderful day.
