Although it's supposed to hot, hot, hot again this weekend, it was down to 51° here last night. It was nice to open up the windows! I'm still listening to a few dozen hummingbirds out my window - they are a bit late leaving for the migration this year.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Draclvr, we're now in the time of year where the Anna's Hummingbirds decide whether to hang around here or not, so we've all made sure that the feeders we have out now are going to be available all winter. This year we'll have about 10 heated feeders over four properties. We should have at least 10-12 birds overwintering.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

51 degrees ... wow Draclvr, that cool temperature must be wonderful ... we'll get back to those temperatures eventually down here Hagatha ... we really enjoy our 'quick glimpses' of our little hummingbird friends and plan to keep our feeders out too as the migration flocks pass us Didn't make it in time today ... so brought some Twinings British Afternoon Tea for the Break Room and some small cakes and pastries Have a wonderful day all

So here's an odd thing -- my local coffee roaster just brought in a new Kenyan coffee, a little darker than their usual roasts, and for some reason I can use it for cappuccinos, but if I use it in the French press and add cream, the cream curdles. I've tried it with two different cream containers, both fresh, and it always happens with this specific coffee and no other. It must be quite an acidic coffee.
Weird. I can't think of any other reason it would do that.

Well, I am glad the weather is a little cooler our Hvac system stopped working. We have no air-conditioning right now.... lol what else can go wrong... the loaner refrigerator we got is down in the basement area... I am making lots of trips down those stairs... and heavens if i forget just one thing.. guess this is one way to loose weight. I'll be ready for that cup of coffee in the morning.

Well, I'm learning to accept that my dog has changed. Been along time since I've lived with an aging dog. He doesn't always wake me up in the morning to eat. First time this happened, I paniced. He didn't wake up to eat and didn't come running when I put food in his bowl. He ate a little bit out of my hand but, though I tried, he wouldn't get out of bed. When the play day people came, he sat right up, barked and went over to get leashed and go. This morning I was up at 6:14 and put food in his bowl. He slept until play people came. THEN he barked and got up. Steadied his legs and went over to leave. When that happens, they feed him there. So, now I know to not worry, but to be ready for however things will happen with him. He's 9 now but aging fast from the muscle condition. We both have to get past aches and pains of waking up in the morning.
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

I know how he feels some mornings. Good for you to let him just be himself as he ages.

I'm not sure what the vet did as I wasn't there but my brother had found these https://www.purina.com/friskies/wet-cat-food/lil-soups and was able to give her the medicine in them, though some was originally wasted. I guess he shouldn't have cancelled the follow up appointment though. We've lost cats to kidney issues that we didn't know they had until it was too late. This is seeming to be too late again now unfortunately, even though we did have the warning of the UTI. I was actually hesitant to even post this.

I was actually going to ask, oldbroad. If kitty didn't get all 10 days of those antibiotics at home, the UTI may not have been completely cleared up. I had one last spring that I took back in 3 times even though she DID get all 10 days of antibiotics at home. Turned out she has crystals in her urine. Which means we have to feed her this very pricey UR dry cat food. Luckily she likes it! So far, no more UTIs.

Sorry to hear about your cat, oldbroad. My previous girl had several bad UTI's in her last two years and a couple of times even had blood in her urine. It was very important to get her antibiotics into her, although it was a struggle. One time we even left her at the vet for a week so he could treat her properly. I hope you can your cat back to health.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
