Rain here, too. Miserable. I have to go out for a few essentials -- the most important being a cat brush -- and then we're going to chill for the rest of the day, maybe watch some Netflix and order a pizza.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

T.G.I.F. Good Morning Everyone Brought a pot of 'Dusk to Donuts' coffee, a pot of breakfast tea and bottled Fiji water in the Break Room. Yes, rain is drippy, wet and some times blustery but it's a must for all outside. Have a wonderful Friday

Not much happening here.
We're off to buy a baby gate in preparation for the face-to-face cat introductions, hopefully next week. Willow is dying to meet her new housemate. She's still showing only interest, no aggression.
The little Dudelebug is absolutely adorable. He has clearly been much-loved, and I'm very sad for his people, having to give him up.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good luck hagatha, but honestly, I would just open the door and let them do their thing. Willow agrees with you 100%, but I promised the SPCA I would use their introduction methods.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

The SPCA checked us out pretty carefully when we adopted Willow 7 1/2 years ago, but this time they just looked us up in their database, confirmed that we were the people who adopted Willow, and that was really it. I think they were pretty happy to see a nine year old cat get adopted so quickly.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

These places have VERY good reasons for making some rules and guidelines for things like introductions. I am very active in both the large animal rescue community and the dog and cat rescue community in this area. If you knew the number of animals who are brought back or given away and just dumped (in violation of a contract) when things don't go well, you would be shocked. The biggest group I'm part of had to finally stop allowing rehoming of pets on their page - the horror stories finally forced them to become very strict. Now everything must go through a rescue licensed with the state.
I have a feeling this introductory period with the gate is going to be short, hagatha!

Drac, I have one worry, and that is that Willow will be too exuberant. Even though her intentions seem pretty friendly, she is a big, strong, cat -- like, really big. Dude is pretty shy and only medium-sized, and he is definitely not going to be the dominant one, plus he's still traumatized.
We'll try putting Willow in the other bedroom for a couple of hours tomorrow to let him roam the house a little bit with me. He seems to trust me now, so we'll see how that goes -- I think if he had a better sense of where he is he'd feel a bit more secure. Plus, he's definitely getting bored cooped up in the one room.
But we'll try the gate soon.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I wouldn't be shocked Draclvr. I am aware of their supposed reasons. But all of their rules are just not for ME! And personally, I think that if some idiot person wants to do something bad with their pet, they're going to do it regardless of that "contract" and that nobody will be the wiser.
hagatha, I think letting him scope out the rest of the house is a good idea. Then he'll know where he can hide if he chooses to hide for awhile.

We have a Halloween Party on Sunday.
One of our neighbours has arranged a party for all the neighbourhood kids to show up so they don't have to go door to door. Our neighbourhood is quite rural as we're at the exact end of the City and beyond out street is nothing but wilderness. Also, our resident bear Sidney, has not yet hibernated, ad kids carrying candy might be too tempting. He's never been aggressive, preferring to loll around in people's gardens with a belly full of stolen apples, but he is a bear.
I have to cook a vegan curry for our newly-vegan neighbour, who is coming over for lunch to watch soccer.
The cats were talking to each other again through the door. I opened it a crack, and though Dude chirped and cruised on past, he wouldn't actually come to the door. He's a talker, has a little comment for everything.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I'm looking forward to hearing more on how the introductions go, hagatha! I'm so glad to hear you're doing it the right way and taking the time to make sure the outcome is a good one... I have no problems with abiding with these things as the well-being of the animal is the foremost goal for everyone involved.
