Those tornadoes caused so much damage! We don't get them here (we're in earthquake country), although there was a very , very rare tornado near Vancouver this summer.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

It's a soccer day today, so I'm using it as an opportunity to desensitize Dude to our friends (he's a scaredy-cat). We jad a real breakthrough today, with him finally settling in with us and our friend comfortably in front of the TV and not running away at the slightest motion. But our team lost.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

THis morning we have a nasty mix of freezing rain and snow, and it's still pitch black out there, promising more of the same, so I guess I won't be venturing out to the stores. By tomorrow all of the brave souls in their big trucks will have cleared a pathway along the roads for the rest of us to follow, and of course the highway will be plowed some time this morning.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

How miserable, hagatha. I'd rather have snow than that freezing rain mix any old day! Hope it doesn't last long!

Dental surgery today, more preparation for the implant that will be installed in a couple of months. I thought it would be today, so the delay was a bit of a disappointment. I don't know what drugs they gave me to put me to sleep, but I could have just spent a day drifting away happily on the stuff. But then they make you get up.

They definitely give you the good stuff for dental surgery. When they had to dig out my wisdom teeth, they gave me intravenous Valium! Really didn't CARE what they did!

Hi Everyone, Sorry it's been a while. My back and hips have been bringing me down. My chiro referred me back to my acupuncturist for treatment. About 20 years ago, fell down few stairs and landed on the basement floor of the bungalow my ex and I owned. Got bruise on my right butte, which developed into a hematoma and is now scar tissue. That old scar tissue is now pressing on nerves. Acupuncturist says she can do something about it. She and my chiro have spoken so they are in sync about the treatment. Told my doc I'm sick of it all and want to be able to at least walk pain free at my high school reunion next May. He assures me I will be able to dance. (BTW, I fell down those stairs a few times and, though we had discussed that it needed to be done, a railing was never installed until he had to have the house inspected for our divorce. I was livid when I saw it.) Part of the problem is that I need lose weight. Tended to be on the thin side when I was younger. Aging and life's stress, esp last couple of years (of course) have left me heavier than I've ever been. I'm not a cook, and my back/hips limit my standing to just a few minutes. Just straightening my kitchen is a challenge. I don't like a lot of spices, and have a really hard time trying new things. So been looking for a meal delivery service. I've tried and dismissed the offerings of several different companies, even one some people raved about. Then my chiro's asst told me about one she's using that has a better, more nutritious menu with more variety. The meals are mainly what I consider lunch and dinner. The company adjusts what they offer to the meals you purchase. They seem to order a lot of dishes that are more palatable with simple ingredients. They offer 'lots' of 4 to 21 meals. My first 6 meals will arrive next Monday. Lots things I want to do but my energy level is very low. Just enough to take care of household stuff and play my games. Hopefully, between the acu and better meals, I'll start to feel better. My dog is doing better than me! Though he's gotten used to stiffness and balance issues, those legs still move pretty quick. Sunday I ordered a new microwave which. to my surprise, the company delivered right away. At my request, the deliverer took a few steps into my home to put it down rather than leave it outside. He got a kick out of Huey who came out to see who was in the house. But then I had to move Huey away cause he realize the front door was open, and given the chance, he would have gone out to look around. The way my home is made, I don't have a view to the street, only to the yard area, so he doesn't get to see that much of what is going on outside. Enjoying the easy, snowless though chilly days which are unusual for this time of year. Bought a set of Carol Burnett shows and plan to enjoy them during Christmas which I can't believe is around the corner. Take care!!
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

Butterflybabe, I know how stress can cause weight gain, especially as we get older. I've never weighed more than 118 pounds in my life, but a couple of years of COVID laziness, my husband's chronic illness, and a relatively poor diet have me tipping the scales at 136 pounds and I feel like a blimp. And it defintely affects my energy level. I'd be interested in a meal service, too, just to make sure my house was stocked with decent food, but our town is too small.

I wish I still weighed 136 pounds. I thought I looked and felt pretty good at that weight. I've always been a race horse. Now I'm a plow horse. I'm not very tall and I'm tiny boned, so the weight is not nice on me.

Off to take WIllow to the vet this morning. The little monster has no idea what's coming -- she'll be put on a diet, for certain. Since we stopped going for walks her waistline has steadily increased and she isn't the sleek beauty she once was. And she'll probably have shots, too. There will be some sulking. Dude has finally worked out how to use the cat flap onto the large balcony on the back of our house. Unfortunately, he can't figure out how to get back in the same way. We've come to the conclusion that while he's a very handsome boy, and very, very sweet, he's not exactly the smartest cat we've ever met. Part of that, I think, is his life in a small apartment, where he wouldn't really have had many learning experiences and I suspect he spent a lot of time hiding under a bed. Hopefully opening up his world a bit will spark him. He's already going bonkers over having access to two outdoor spaces. The cats are doing well together, only WIllow is exhibiting what I would call friendly dominance. If she was a cartoon cat, the text bubble over her head would read, " HI THERE!!!!!!! WANNA PLAY?" in giant letters, as she saunters up to Dude with her tail up and her ears forward. He usually backs away, but sometimes I catch them playing together, and I've noticed him tentatively sneaking upbehind her, though he always chickens out.
