Drac (keeping it clean) there is also a great Tea Of Love motif from Edward Monkton https://www.campusgifts.co.uk/product/edward-monkton-tea-of-love-mug and my favourite coffee mug was the Starbucks/Star Wars "May the froth be with you" And a good Sunday morning to one and all: my current brew is from beans called Nuclear coffee, following on from Strong George (I think produced in Germany), but my local supermarket (Sainsburys) actually carries a pretty good fair-trade strength 5 coffee at a very modest price which hits the spot quite nicely!

Hello Boomers! Hope you're all keeping well and safe. Nothing much going on today. Chris is here doing the weekly clean-up. He comes every Saturday and Sunday and vacuums the whole house, mops downstair floors, does the stair carpet and wipes down all worktops etc. Diana comes in during the week for a couple of hours, just to make sure everything is ok. I don't know what I would do without the kids, they have been fantastic. Have a great Sunday, guys! Much love, Mary

Happy New Year everyone! I am starting out the New Year with Covid so I have the week off for some much needed rest and relaxation. I've been exhausted for awhile, so this is one way to get me to rest. Hope you all are doing well! Ana

So sorry to read you have COVID , Ana! Hope it will be mild and you get thru it without issues. I’ve been dealing with what they thought was strep and a virus… it’s been a month and I’m still dealing with it. Much better but still having issues. I got shots and some med for the strep which I had a reaction to Had to stay very close to the bathroom for 3 days. Temp is gone but the cough is not. They finally changed my cough medicine to some so strong I don’t dare try to drive…. I was tested for Covid and it came back negative Whatever this is I don’t want it again … what a way to end 2021. 😁

Good morning and a good day to you all. Nothing much to talk about: a bit of snow and cold temp. Sunday my wife and I will get our third vaccine for the covid. Take care.

We got our boosters a couple of months ago... we're protecting ourselves as much as we can. We're both in our 70's and plenty of pre-existing conditions merit caution. I could name 50 people we know who got COVID over the holidays. Thankfully, they all had relatively mild symptoms... miserable, but at least not hospitalized.
It's finally back above freezing here and I'm going to head in town for groceries. Supposed to get 6" or more of snow Thursday!
Have a good day, everyone!

Hello friends, and a very The New Year's weekend led me to make a hard decision. My dog's play care place closes on holidays, which meant that, this past weekend, his bathroom needs were in my hands. New Year's day not a big deal, but Sunday and Monday were tough. Both days he was frantic to go out before 5 am. I would have been ok with him doing it in the house, but, in the 7 years I've had him, he's only done it a handful of times. My fear of walking in the snow with my walker, forced me to limit where he could go. Unlike previous times, he wasn't picky and just did what he had to do. I relieved yet very aware that his doing so was a change. I had also been noticing behavior changes suggesting he was in beginning stages of dementia. Just standing, looking confused and hesitating. Watching him and considering my own physical challenges, I realized my ability to care for him had changed. Not knowing what else to do, I sadly decided to let him go. Yesterday morning, while I was on the phone making arrangements, the day care manager came to pick up Huey. He left with the dog knowing Huey wouId be euthanized today. A few hours later, the play care manager called with a proposal. We discussed my situation as well as the realities of Huey's aging process. He asked if I would be willing to let the day care place adopt Huey and care for him until the end. He assured me that Huey is considered part of their family. Even so, I was stunned. He said he'd never done it before, but taking care of dogs is the basic nature of his business. I admitted to him that part of my hesitation of putting Huey down, was knowing his staff loves and cares for Huey as much as I do. Yet, I needed to let the idea sink in. A few hours later, I called to accept the proposal. He assured me I have 'visiting' rights in that I can go see him any time, or, if I prefer, they'll bring him over to see me in my home. The place itself is less than a mile from my home. After calling to cancel the euthanizing appt, I sobbed and laid down for an hour. Last night was weird. My time didn't revolve around feeding Huey. I slept 9 hours, had breakfast, slept for another hour. I'm sad for me, happy for Huey and relieved all at the same time.
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

Oh, how wonderful for you to have been given the option for Huey to be taken care of by people who love him! No wonder you rested well. I'm so happy for both you and Huey. And kudos to your play care facility!
