We don't have much on the agenda today. Just hanging out. Our immediate neighbours are away so it's very peaceful around here.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hello GB friends, Have I got a story for you A week ago yesterday (Fri 2/18), I woke up slightly woozy. Figured it was the weather which can't seem to decide if it's winter or spring. Continued to feel 'off' for a few days. Then I couldn't lay flat in bed without the world spinning, so slept sitting up. Saw both chiropractor and acupuncturist, which just seemed to help me calm down generally. Tuesday midafternoon, sitting down and shocked when full blown dizziness started. Tried to keep my cool but it wouldn't stop. After carefully walking to use bathroom, called 911. Dizziness meds in ER didn't help. They had to put the head of the bed in a complete upright position to ease the sensation. Stayed overnight cause couldn't walk from ER bed to bathroom without needing help, to feel unsteady. CT done of neck and MRI of head both negative, plus no outward sign of stroke. Neurologist diagnosed vertigo from left ear. PT came in to teach a bed exercise to calm the sensation. She explained a lot, then asked if I'd had the vaccine. When I said yes, she told me she'd had several similar cases within the last year. People with very mild symptoms, and nothing else wrong with them. She believes it's a long range effect from the vaccine, even a year later. Doc said most likely a one time thing. Still suggested I take a bottle of the meds used in ER, in case I'm not at home and it hits again; at least I'll have something with me. After 2 nights in hospital, I got home THurs afternoon. I've had my share of hospital stays in my life, and am constantly surprised how, like everywhere else, things change. Having to call the cafeteria for meal orders never happened back in the day. Mostly, you got what they were serving and that was it. What really made me laugh was when the nurse came to take my temp, she had to get a new thermometor cause the one she'd picked up wasn't working cause the battery was dead. Back in the day, using the manual ones, that wouldn't have been a problem. A sign of things being different due to pandemic; since I needed an autopap for my sleep apnea they had to find and plug in a huge air filter which was pretty noisy; and when it was on, the medical personnel had to where extra 'sanitation' clothes, but not a hazmat suit. Biggest laugh I had, mostly to myself, was having to tell one of the ER interns that there was a urine sample on the bathroom sink. It wasn't mine. God knows how long it'd been there. He was astonished and many apologies. Anyway, hope my life goes back to being dull and boring
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

butterflybabe, I would be very hesitant to take as medical gospel the beliefs of a single physical therapist based on a few patients she's cared for. If this happens again, I'd be asking for a full blood workup to rule out anything serious.
I get severe vertigo myself, and it's because my blood pessure drops suddenly. There are times when the room is actually spinning out of control and I have to hang on the sides f the chair.
Here's to a return to boring and normal! That's the way I like my life, too.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Sorry that you had a rough week, butterfly. I'm glad to hear you are doing better now.
hagatha, what butterflybabe was told was not the opinion of one therapist. It is a known reported and published side effect. Search "Acute Vertigo After COVID-19 Vaccination"
Have a happy day all! My two boarders just went home and it's a quiet house for the first time in 10 days.

It is a possibility and I've read about it too. The best study into acute vertigo and the COVID vaccine done in January 2022 concluded they could not establish a direct correlation between the vaccine and the vertigo. They concluded that more study was needed. It also could have been unrelated. My husband spent an entire day in the ER before being diagnosed with extreme vertigo in one ear - and this was 3 years ago. So, it's hard to know if that was the cause or not. In the hundreds of friends and family members I know who are fully vaccinated and boosted, no one has had any adverse reactions. My husband had a headache for 36 hours and I had nothing, not even a sore arm. I've had worse reactions to the tetanus vaccine!
Glad you're home and feeling better, butterflybabe! I spent a couple of days in the hospital with a PE (pulmonary embolism) a year and a half ago. It was nice to be able to order anything from the menu when I wanted it! Here's to boring!

We have SUN! And slightly warmer temperature will hopefully melt all the sleet and ice we had last Wednesday. I don't mind winter, but I'm done with it now!
