Thanks everyone. Honestly, I didn't think we'd make this milestone, given John's health situation, but we did. So now we have to pick a new milestone to reach.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Painter is here working already and my new range will be here in a couple of hours! Woot! Nice. Fresh paint really perks a place up. I have plans for this place. The original owners had execrable taste, and they paired a garish red oak laminated floor with very lovely old-growth fir cabinets, and my kitchen look like a pumpkin. It's all orange. I'm thinking about new flooring through the house -- new tiles in a nice quiet slate, and new hardwood. It's a huge job. Our decorater lives three doors down so I might ask her to pop by and get some colour ideas for flooring.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Oh, my. That kitchen sounds dreadful! I'd have a hard time cooking in there!

Oh, my. That kitchen sounds dreadful! I'd have a hard time cooking in there! When we bought the house, I knew the colours were going to be a problem. The walls were ochre yellow and the "feature" walls were a colour I can only describe as dried blood. The tiles are fake terracotta. The cabinets are lovely fir, but very delicate and easily damaged. They're good enough to refinish, though. This is not a a project to be undertaken lightly. We would have to move for a month or two if I can find a short-term rental in town that takes cats, snd needless to say the timing depends on John's state of health.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Chief, that's a great way to start the day! Painter is here bright and early doing more prep work for getting the walls in several rooms repainted for the first time in 25 years! I'm excited because I'M not doing it this time!
