Got down to 36°F here last night. Brrr... !! Glad I pulled all the big barn doors closed last night so it would be a tiny bit warmer for the early shift at the Ranch!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Have a great April Fools' Day everyone: I need that dark Sumatran Roast for the coffee please, possibly blended with some quite strong Italian. We have bright spring sunshine, and lots of daffodils and other spring bulbs coming up, but cold enough to have given us a brief hailstorm yesterday!

Kind of the same here on the other side of the pond! We got some brief sleet and snow yesterday! But the sun is out and the daffodils are blooming.

The garden centres are open here, too, so I picked up some hellebores for our front beds. The deer leave them alone, thankfully. I have one spectacular hellebore that blooms from February through to the end of July. It's a ruffled purple and white one, fully upright with no drooping, and I've never found another one anywhere. I was hoping to do the entire bed all in the same variety, but alas, it is not to be. However, I got one that is close, with a ruffled greenish-white and purple flower.
It's finally warm enough to go boating. We had a short trip out to Mittlenatch and back. The S.U. needs a fair amount of assistance getting in and out of the boat now, but we can still manage it, which bodes well for the upcoming summer.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

We have several pink flowering cherry trees with slightly staggered blossoming times just starting - beautiful, but all too brief: later it will be wisteria giving us a lovely display, including hopefully some which I only planted last year to climb through a couple of the flowering cherries. We also have a rose bed which seems to thrive for most of the year despite inadequate maintenance on my part. I am a somewhat lazy/haphazard gardener and I am trying to create a wildflower meadow on part of the garden, to some extent on the basis that it mainly takes care of itself: I employ someone else to mow the rest of the grass (quite a cost effective option as it avoids the need for me to buy expensive lawn care equipment). Have a good weekend everyone!

I somehow hurt my back yesterday and all of a sudden I'm barely able to hobble around. Not sure what I did, because I came home from shopping, had a cup of tea, and then when I stood up I had this severe pain at the base of my spine.
Honestly, the sight of two of us creaking around today would be funny if the pain hadn't kept me up all night. So strange.
I don't have to go anywhere for a couple of days so hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.
We're in the midst of a nasty storm right now. It's a good day for watching TV.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hey, connie and soot are back! I thought maybe the two of you ran off together yesterday. I get a lot of those mystery pains hagatha. Some linger for a month and others go away after a day, as I hope yours will. Nothing going on here (as usual). A bit of sunshine today. I can't believe it is Sunday again - time to pay bills - uck!

This one is receding, thankfully. It was pretty bad. I actually had trouble standing up. The last mystery pain I had, in my left hip, came on very suddenly and lasted for three years! Then one day the pain wasn't so bad, and now it's been gone for four years. Mystery pains, indeed.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I do pilates exercises for my troublesome back, which also responds well to cycling, but my absolute must is a good backrest, and I swear by this (sold as a backstretcher) for use on just about every seat including in the car https://www.amazon.com/North-American-Healthcare-JB4866-Stretcher/dp/B001G6ZRF0 - there are now loads of more complicated and adjustable (and more expensive) varieties some of which I have tried over the years, but I keep coming back to this one. I have also found that a TENS machine turned up high can help unlock the tight muscles (which are often the cause of the pain) in a matter of hours rather than days or even weeks of rest/exercise/physiotherapy. Of course the other problem is that reduced mobility (not to mention comfort food) caused by an aching back can cause weight gain which then adds to the stress on the back...

Good morning everyone Maple Bacon coffee, English Breakfast tea and bottled spring water in the Break Room. Hey Lex, that's an interesting backstrecher for sure. I am thinking it makes you sit properly in a chair, up straight and not slumping Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone
