It looks as though two humpbacks have taken up temporary residence in the water right offshore. They're on the other side of the channel, mostly, but we've seen them every day this week.
It's a very rich environment here, with cold, fast-moving water, and so the marine life is plentiful. There's almost always a dive boat out there. One of the things divers come here to see is the Giant Octopus, which are truly enormous. There's also lots of krill here for the humpbacks.
We're finally getting some decent weather.

Good morning all, TT practice getting under way here, and of course we have a four day public holiday coming up for the Royal Platinum Jubilee: it remains to be seen whether that pushes up Covid figures again and/or brings Monkey Pox as a bonus...
Hagatha, your posts make us sorely tempted to take a holiday on Vancouver Island when/if we pluck up the courage to do any more travelling!
Life is what happens while you're making other plans.

Lex, Vancouver Island is a great place to visit. Actually, all of BC is worth visiting. There's the Sea to Sky Highway from Vancouver Island north to Squamish and Whistler, and on to Pemberton and beyond. If you like wilderness, BC is the place to be.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I was wondering the same thing, oldbroad!

Is this the same bike race that's been held on the Isle for many decades? John's mother used to talk about it all the time.

Bagel with chunky peanut butter sounds about right, accompanied by a gallon of coffee. I picked up a new one yesterday, a single-origin from Peru. It's very fruity, lots of cherry notes. Maybe a bit too fruity.
So I'm back to the hospital every day. John was re-admitted because he wasn't keeping anything down. The doctors were all very serious this time and we thought it might be curtains, but it turned out to be much less serious than anyone thought, and only tangentially related to the cancer. A change of diet will keep the problem at bay.
Now if we could just have some nice weather we could spend the summer on the deck with the cats, who are now best frenemies and very funny to watch.

What a relief that only a change in diet might help him feel better. I say "only" with tongue-in-cheek because I know that can be very hard.
We are waiting to head into St. Louis to the airport to pick up the Germans. Their flight from Frankfurt was delayed by over and hour, so not sure they will be able to make their connecting flight in Detroit. They were supposed to have a 2 hour layover which is enough to get through Customs and to the next gate. Now they will only have a bit less than one hour. They should be landing in Detroit in about an hour and 45 minutes.

Well, we've been told that for the next couple of weeks it's clear liquids.
Beer is a clear liquid.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
