I hope the change of diet will be agreeable with John, meaning, it seems like you've said he eats whatever he likes, so I hope it includes stuff he likes and that it helps him. As long as it includes ice cream he'll be happy. Seriously, though, the situation may have resolved itself. Nobody really knows what caused the problem and now it's mostly gone. Also, we were told that his kidney function was so low that we might be looking at dialysis, but today things are almost back to normal. Some people are to ornery to go before they're ready.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I am delighted to hear that the outlook for John is looking better! Marian, interesting to hear of your IOM heritage. The Island was once a bustling holiday centre for people from the north of England before the arrival of cheap holidays in Europe, but that is long gone and now the economy often struggles: offshore finance was a big shot in the arm in the 70s but that has waned over the last 20 years or so. The local housing market rocketed for a year or so after Covid hit as the Island was seen as a safe haven, but that did not last and for a while we had proportionately more Covid cases than anywhere else in Britain. This video gives some idea of the contrast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmzg8ml3-q0

The fog is so thick this morning I can't see anything out my windows. And it's raining, to boot. Typical June weather.
We are supposed to be having a very hot summer again, so the heat pump will be most welcome, but right now I'm turning on the fireplace.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Went out with some friends last night to a new Italian place and ate about three day's worth of calories -- Lobster Risotto. Yum. Good food, which is hard to find in this town, but the blaring bass made it tough to talk. It was good to get out and socialize a bit.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good for you, hagatha. Some self-care is appropriate right now.

The Germans are finally here! We are enjoying some nice weather, but still too cool for me to get in the pool! They were in early this morning after a walk. I'm doing the mowing today and probably some weeding.

Another beautiful day today. Slept late - the Germans pretty much take care of themselves and fix their own breakfast. Plans are for lazing around the pool reading for them and mowing for three hours for me!
