" We are supposed to get possible thunder storms and lots of rain next, here, which should lower the temperature and would suit me just fine ] It didn't happen !!!! Not a speck of rain or sound or sight of a storm. And rain is not now predicted until Friday And it's only been very slightly cooler. Really need lots of rain very soon and much cooler weather

This morning I went out with a friend to a new coffee/croissant shop in town. It's part of a chain, Freyja, which originated in Europe. Excellent coffee, and the croissants are huge -- easily enough calories for a whole day and a half, and a huge variety, too. Plus it's a very nice, modern room, which our grimy little city really needs.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

So, oldbroad, the new AC is working OK??? Supposed to be 100° and over the next three days, so I'm glad mine is working! We get ours serviced every year to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.

Yes, I guess I've cooled down now, both in body heat and frame of mind . Part of my frustration was hearing one of the workers say "it's not our fault" to the other worker (not to us) and I started thinking I was going to be in for a big fight, having to pay for something they couldn't get working. I know they were getting quite frustrated themselves. Getting it serviced every year does not mean it won't break down.

No, it doesn't guarantee anything. But it sure does mean that it's in the best working condition possible and that if anything WAS wrong, it was fixed before we turned it on. Gives me a lot of peace of mind with my older unit.

So pleased for you if you now have a fully working installation, oldbroad [I've always had my unit serviced every 12 months. It's not cheap but worth every penny.]

I'm going to have a great weekend! My son arrived from Denver earlier after a 14 hour drive with my 20 year old granddaughter, my 15 year old granddaughter and my 18 year old grandson! Mom stayed home to work on her doctoral dissertation. I'm sure she's going to love the peace and quiet and I'm going to love all the noise! Let the cooking begin!
