Good Morning and Happy Saturday everyone. Coffee and tea are ready...a special roast for you soot...can you guess what it is? Ana sending love and hugs for you and Nugget...I understand how difficult it is when our furry friends are ill. Taintedfury thinking of you and praying you don't get any more flooding. Draclvr how did your day at the horse rescue go? I had my 2 horses till they passed...one from cancer and the other a stroke. Both lived almost 40 years! Loved them both and still miss them. Have a great day everyone! Gerry

It's very cold and dark this morning.
We still haven't had any rain. In fact, I don't think we've had more than about five days of rain all summer. We're well supplied with water here because our hydro and drinking water are both supplied by large lake reservoirs, but all over BC the salmon barely have enough water to get upstream.
My cats are talking to each other. That means they're about to start chasing each other around the house like a couple of kittens. Too cute.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning, everyone! Another beautiful warm fall day here. That's supposed to come to a halt Tuesday and a chance of rain. It's so dry here, we can't get the tomato plants out of the ground. We may have to cut the vines off at the ground and haul them off.
Got my onions chopped up and dehydrated yesterday. Going to be so nice to have them for lots of stuff this winter. Today I will start working on the garlic - I've got about 4 pounds of garlic to work up. I will chop and dehydrate some and just clean up the rest for fresh garlic.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good morning one and all! Hiking was wonderful, the baseball event was fun, we're back from this morning's walk and now it's time to tackle weekend chores and projects. Yes indeed, coffee and bagels to finish the morning.

Good Monday Morning everyone. Too funny oldbroad...I am up early most mornings! Connie what is "Wild Florida"? Hagatha we were in a moderate drought this summer, but the recent rains have improved our drought condition. Draclvr you are quite the gardener! Enjoy your Monday everyone! Gerry

Finally some rain. It wasn't enough to ease the drought in some areas, but at least our risk of fires has dropped along the coast. We're getting into our dreary dark mornings.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Gerry, I'm usually up until the wee hours of the morning but am trying to be better. Some days though it just doesn't work. I'm glad you asked Connie about Wild Florida. I was wondering too. I'm assuming you enjoyed the Safari ride connie? I hope so anyway! It sounds interesting. We're expecting some rain this week. I think we're below average this year but there's been enough for me. I hope you all have a wonderful day (and week if I don't post again).

Good Morning Connie, hagatha, oldbroad, Space Quest, soot and everyone. Connie what kind of "wild" animals did you get to see? Hagatha we have been experiencing cold dark and rainy mornings here for the last 3 days...another one today. Oldbroad how does the time change affect your sleep? Do you stay up even later? Space Quest send some of that nice weather my way please! Soot I have a special dark roast Sumatra blend for you this morning. Tea is ready along with hot chocolate and coffee this morning. Enjoy your day! Gerry

Well, the rains have finally come. It was also cold enough to be very slippery on the highway once I reached the higher levels on my way to Comox. I think we'll be getting snowfall in the mountains soon.
Since I sold John's big SUV I decided to put snow tires on my Accord this year. It handles well in snow but I'm driving to Victoria in a couple of weeks and there's no way my all-seasons can handle the drive over the Malahat and down the other side on that narrow, crazy curvy road. It's scary enough in the summer and there's always an accident.
The Malahat always reminds me of my late father-in-law. He was an RAF bomber pilot in WWII, flying Avro Lancasters. He was shot down twice, once behind enemy line, and both times was the only survivor. To help get him over his trauma, the RAF sent him to Canada, to train new fighter pilots, and he was stationed here on Vancouver Island, in Comox AFB. He and his pals used to drive their car, called Lizzie, down to Victoria, and at that time the road was merely a dirt road. He used to tell us about their adventures getting that car over the Malahat, which was treacherous at best, and he had a couple of pictures of him and his mates at the very peak of the drive. I wonder if we have them stashed away somewhere? I should look.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
