We are just emerging from a second “deep freeze” here in the UK - in my area, anyway. And in-between the two we had ferocious wind and rain storms !! Hoping for something a bit nicer for a while now 🤞🤞🤞

I'm off to get my eyes checked. It's the drops this morning, so I'll have to do a lot of sitting around for a few hours. I've been noticing that my glasses are just wrong at any distance and on long drives it can become a real problem. One of these days I'll have that surgery that replaces the lens completely so you don't have to wear glasses.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I had lens replacement surgery a few years ago and it was excellent, but I think that many people still need glasses, at least for reading: the varifocal replacement lenses seem to only have limited scope for some people despite the hype about no longer needing glasses. I was always extremely short sighted, but that was useful for such things as removing splinters and threading needles: I therefore opted to go for lenses which are good for reading and close work, also balancing the eyes (as one was much worse than the other), but I still need glasses for distance and have a different pair for using the computer. In any event hagatha, I hope the eye test does not produce any unpleasant surprises! Otherwise, I hope that everyone's week is getting off to a good start. Any news about family yet?

The eye test went well -- apparently my eyes are getting better, not worse. I selected two pairs of awesome Gucci frames. I figure since I wear them all the time, they are an important fashion accessory and so I spare no expense.
It is odd that family has dropped off the forum so completely. Has anyone tried to PM her?
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I didn't PM her as it seems she hasn't visited the forums for some time. However, I did send an email to the address she has listed in her profile yesterday. I am quite worried as this is completely out of character for her.

Good Morning Everyone. Draclvr any word back from your email to family? Maybe her computer quit and she hasn't been able to get it fixed. I do hope it is something like that keeping her from posting. Double dark brew coffee, strong Earl Grey tea and hot chocolate are on. Hope you all have a peaceful day. Gerry

Nothing from family yet, Gerry. I'm hoping for a computer issue too.
Making a brief grocery store run today to get a couple of things in anticipation of quite a lot of snow tonight and into tomorrow. I doubt it will stay around long, but they don't plow the country roads very quickly, so it may be a few days before I get out. My wine supply is getting low!

I love a splash of wine and a pat of butter to deglaze a pan after searing meat.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning everyone. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are on. Ana hope you are able to get in touch with family. Draclvr we are expecting snow this afternoon as well...and our country roads don't get plowed right away either...not enough manpower or plows in our little town. Time to replenish your wine supply Draclvr! Happy Hump Day! Gerry

Oh, yes, on the nice red wine and a pat of butter to deglaze a pan! Then pour it on the meat!
It looks like we got about 5" of snow, but it's very wet and packs down as soon as it comes down. But everything is covered and out here in the country it looks beautiful.
I think texting family might be better than a phone call. That way she can ignore it if she chooses!

Apparently an unseasonable cold front is headed our way. I have a couple of errands to run and some boxes of things to drop off at the Thrift Store, and then I think I'll sit in front of the fire and watch TV.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
