I am in Von Croy's Apartment where I ran into the "Cleaner" and I think there is a glitch in the game. I am now in the part where I pick up the amno and he comes thru the wall. According to the walk thru he is suppose to leave after I shoot at him, but he won't leave. Lara doesn't seem to aim very straight and actually hit him with bullets. The bullets seem to be bouncing off the wall next to the "Cleaner". I am shooting from the corner against the wall where I picked up the amno. Can someone tell me how to make the "Cleaner" leave?

Hi Gerry You love those TR games don't you . Didn't you just finish Chronicles a while back ? I played TR AOD on the PS2 . Are you sure your hitting him ? I seem to remember it took several shots to convince him to leave .

I am not able to hit him. Lara hits the wall next to him or behind him. It is very frustrating! She will not aim straight at him no matter where I stand or kneel down. Do you actually have to hit him to make him leave?

Hello hugh, No I managed to get out of that spot by the kitchen and stairs. It is in the next room where the Cleaner comes thru the wall shooting that I can't get him to leave no matter how many times I shoot at him. It looks to me like Lara is not actually hitting him with bullets. She is hitting the wall and I can't get her to line up squarely so she aims straight! Very frustrating. Maybe it would help if I knew exactly where to stand or kneel to shoot him so he leaves the darn room! Can you help me?

Good Morning Robert, you didn't abandon me. The PC version of Angel of Darkness has a lot of glitches in it. Several times my computer crashed and rebooted itself - not a good thing! I am also having trouble in different parts of the game getting Lara to jumb straight or run straight. Lara also "twitches" when she should be standing still and when she shoots someone the body disappears from the scene or it stands frozen. I agree with you that the story is great and the environments are nice but they definitely need to resolve the "control" issues. It is not good to crash in the game and have your computer rebooting itself. When is Tomb Raider Legend coming out?

Hi Gerry According to the news article I read , the release has been postponed until March 2006 , but I wouldn't lend much weight to it . The release of the PS2 version of AOD was pushed back several times and was still released with major flaws . I hope they get it right this time , because I really love the Tomb Raider series . I also liked the new role-playing elements and melee attack capability for Lara that they added in AOD .

Hey Robert! I see on this page that the 2006 part has been confirmed. The March part, however, has not been confirmed. http://www.tombnews.com/news/2005071801/ Interesting read, thanks Robert! Rusty

Smiley,
Wish I could help you out with the games, but I'm not much on the action part, just can't do a lot of it..such a spastic person. I've always thought these games sound so good though Glad you're getting some help and encouragement with the game.
Have fun..

I love reading the adventures folks have with these games, and had to see the movie of course, although haven't seen the 2nd one yet.. So, yep I think the stories are good..feel the same with Indie Jones and the Thief series, just can only play for a bit though..action and I can't agree it seems..but I do love the stories they unweave as you go. I finally finished Angel of Darkness and not any to soon. My PC kept crashing and rebooting itself when I tried to load a saved game or when I played a scene over and over because I had trouble jumping or shooting etc. The environment is great in the game. It was my first experience with an action game. I usually play Adventure games. It was quite an experience! My sister sent me Tomb Raider II Gold. Can you tell me something about the game. Does it have any bugs, glitches or patches I need to know about?

Hi Gerry , Congrats on finishing the game . I couldn't find any patches for TR 2 Gold . That game was made by the original TR development team , so you shouldn't have any problem with it . It was published in 98 , so I'm not sure how well it will run on XP ( if that is your OS ) . Lara will be a bit different in the game . There won't be any role-playing elements and Lara has no melee combat capability ( hand to hand or sword , club etc ) . However , she's got an unlimited supply of ammo in her pistols If you have trouble installing or playing the game due to crashes or such . Just post in the Glitches , Bugs and Patches forum where all of our computer geeks hang out

The early TR games (and gold editions) are generally very stable, and TRII gold does work on XP - I just checked. Hopefully you've been given the two disk version of TRII gold, which has the original TRII on one disk, and the extra game on disk 2 - they can be installed independent of one another. Have fun. IMHO, TRII and TRIII are the best of the range. Gremlin

Smiley456, you might want to go to www.tombraiders.net/stella and download a saved game if you get really frustrated with the game. I just started playing Tombraider 2 and am about to start Level 3. Had great fun with the speed boat! Only problem I am having is I can't play the opening sequence and none of the FMVs. Other than that the game is running OK.

There are masochists that enjoy stuff that other folks would flee, and then there are all of us that fall somewhere on the spectrum. There is no award for sticking to a game when it isn't fun, and only you can determine if you want to give a game up, or at what point, but no one should ever feel bad because they didn't stick with it when it wasn't fun. And now if you please, that's enough on that diversion, and let us allow the thread to be what it was originally about.

No apologies necessary! I am enjoying TRII and am now in Level 6. I am happy that this game is not crashing on me like Angel of Darkness. I just picked up a used copy of TR4 and am wondering if you all can tell me about it. Do you know of any glitches or problems I might encounter with the game?

Hi Gerry , As far as I know , Tr : AOD is the only Tomb Raider game that has major issues . All others should be fairly stable . Edit : Here is a link where you can read about all of the Tomb Raider games . Just click on Action Games in the left column and scroll down the list in the little box . Click here for Tomb Raider : The Last Revalation

Since this thread has turned into a discussion about more than just one Tomb Raider game, I have changed the title of the thread to a more general one. This way, any Tomb Raider game can be addressed in this thread. So, feel free to post any Tomb Raider questions, problems, or discussion here. Rusty

I must confess that I have never played any of the Tomb Raider games. I am interested to hear peoples thoughts on them as far as which is considered the best/worst, do the early ones play on XP, etc. All thoughts and opinions welcome! Let's get this thread kickin'! Thanks, Rusty

I've been doing very well with the underwater swimming as long as I know where I am going. But pulling levers underwater is still tricky for me. I never seem to be able to line up to pull the lever on the first pass. Is there a trick to getting Lara lined up fast? Ingie, even with a saved game I feel my heart start to pound when I know it's timed! I have just started Level 10 in TR2 next will be the Gold Levels. Does any one know what to expect in these bonus levels? Thanks

Thanks gremlin. I will try and position Lara in the middle of a switch at my next water lever. I have now progressed to level 11 in TR2. I found level 10 and the underwater part on the ship a challenge to say the least. The Level I just started is in Tibet and it is really quite a contrast to the caves and underwater environment of the previous level. Nice change!

At Last I finished TR2 and am now going to start TR2 Gold Levels! I ended up with over 1200 saved games! Just didn't trust myself so I saved after every jump and kill so I did not have to do it all over if I died a few steps further into the game! The tip of my index finger on my left hand is soooo sore from constantly pressing the shift key and the Ctrl key! Thanks you all for your help Robert and hugh!

Just a little tidbit to add here. When I did the training Level for TR2 before actually starting the game, I was not able to get into Lara's Treasure Room. But after completing the game I went back to the training Level and tried again. And guess what - I DID IT!!! I got into the Treasure Room! For me that was an incredible accomplishment! I am not good at timed events but I think the experience playing both TR2 and TR Angel of Darkness really helped. Next, after I finish the bonus levels in TR2 Gold, I will play TR Last Revelation so keep in touch because I am sure I will need help from the experts!

Okay Guys I finished both TR2 and TR2 Gold!!! I even got all 3 secrets in the final level before killing "Big Bird"!! It was really really hard to get the last skull in the giant bird cage without getting stomped to death. But I did it and was able to run back to the elevator and kill the "Big Bird from there! I am sooo happy I was able to complete this game! I'm going to take a break for a couple days before I start TR Last Revelation. Keep in touch.

You're not kidding hugh! It took me many attempts before I was able to pick up the skull in the cage without being squished by the Bird! The way it finally worked for me was I out ran Big Bird into the cage and immediately saved my game directly in front of the skull. When I went back in the game I bent down to pick up the Skull and Big Bird walked right over me. I was then able to flip around and run like the devil back up the hall and into the elevator where I was able to kill the Bird from safety! I loaded Last Revelation this morning and couldn't resist playing the training level. I am actually able to view the videos in this TR which makes the game a lot more interesting already. Graphics are so much better too! But man is swinging from a rope hard to do! I couldn't tell when to let go and land on the ledge. I kept falling into the pool and running all the way back up to jump one more time!

Thanks Rusty. Now I can look forward to playing this one with Kaki's Sister in December. First I have to finish TR2 and then play Last Revelation. I'm a little behind my sister but am trying to catch up!

You know very well I am only at level 3. I know that you (Kaki's Sister) are an expert now at TR games!

Yup. Thanks Sis. I just posted a question to Andy to see if Divine Divinity is similar to TR and if TR is an RPG.

Hi Robert! I was beginning to wonder where you were. Glad to have you back. I'm in Level 4 The Base and I am having some difficulty with the snipers because they won't show themselves unless I stand out in the open and they get me every time! I am really enjoying Chronicles. Had fun with the tightrope and I'm getting better about not leaning along with Lara as I cross the rope! I also saw Divine Divinity at CompUSA over the weekend. Other Boomers said it would be a good game for my first RPG so I am going back there Wednesday and buy it! It sounds like a fun game to me. What's your opinion Robert?

DD is a great game and a wonderful way to begin playing RPGs..a whole new world of gaming genre will open for you.. Not everyone enjoys each genre, but always worth a try to see where you fit in.. Ingie

Robert I just finished TR Chronicles!!! Amen to that!!! The last level was soooo hard. I ran out of ammo more then once and had to go back to a saved game. Also ran into a few bugs in the last level but overall it was a fantastic game!! I am looking forward to the nextTR. Oh by the way I saw TR3 at Best Buy and was wondering what you thought of TR3? Is it as good as the other TR games? Let me know. Thanks. popcorneater I did pick up DD yesterday and also one for my sister in Seattle so we can try our first RPG together!

I'm so glad you're enjoying these games..lots of folks that like these also seem to enjoy the Thief series..not sure they're anything alike from what I played of Thief..so many moons ago. Never played the Tomb Raider games so can't compare. Is Indy Jones similar? Ingie

Hi Gerry Congrats on beating Chronicles . Tomb Raider 3 is also very good . With the exception of Angel of Darkness , ALL the Tomb Raider games are excellent . I thought Angel of Darkness was a good game despite all the bugs it had . The story was very compelling and kept me engaged in the game despite the buggy gameplay ( I just had to find out what was going to happen ) Ingie The only Indiana Jones game I've played was Emperor's Tomb for the PS2 . I thought it was a great game . Somewhat similar to TR in that there are alot of jumping puzzles and figuring out how to get through locked doors and stuff . However , it had alot of melee combat , something you don't see in the TR games ( except AOD ).

Thanks Craig for the info. I do have the level editor disk and I will take your advice. Sounds good! popcorneater what is the Thief series? I've not heard of it before.
