Oh Ms Mary, I am truly saddened by your news.--my prayers and thoughts will be with you and family in the days and weeks ahead. I'll start with coffee and a danish Gerry and Connie ... thanks. Grin, a fun read for sure Lex, we hope the coronation goes well. Hagatha, time will tell, but at the moment I'm sure the ice cream was marvelous. Keep chipping away at your projects you will get there. Wishing you all a wonderful Saturday!
Dan

Good Morning everyone. Mary my heart goes out to you. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers, and as Ana said no words can stop the suffering you and your family are going thru, but we are all here for you and hope you can find some comfort in knowing we care. Sunday extra dark brew is ready...strong tea too and dark hot chocolate awaits. Have a peaceful day. Gerry

I'm having another do-nothing day, apart from a trip to the pet store. All of a sudden Willow is being extremely fussy about her food and won't eat anything I give her; ironically, she is the classis overweight indoor house cat. I would simply let her be hungry, but she's unbelievably annoying about it and when she sees me she won't shut up There's nothing physically wrong with her, apparently; she's just an annoying fur-ball. I think she's bored more than anything.

I've been vastly amused at the recent behaviour turnabout in my two cats. Up to now Willow, the dominant feline-about-the-house, would annoy Dude by sniffing the end of his tail and generally bugging him, and he has retaliated by eating her food. All of a sudden, he is stalking her around the house, just an inch away from the tip of her tail, and she is raiding his food bowl. It's fair turnabout, and both of them seem to acknowledge it quite cheerfully. There's an awful lot of talking.
It will be interesting to see what the relationship becomes in a new house, since it will no longer be Willow's home with Dude the newcomer. Another thing I've noticed, and it is quite striking -- if I don't have Feliway diffusers around the house, Willow becomes truly obnoxious and chases him all the time. I think she needs kitty Prozac. Or CAtivan, as we call it.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Well done, connie! Usually it's the other way around. Great fun!
I am doing the happy dance! Living out in the country is wonderful, but has its pitfalls... one of them being good internet. I have been happy to get a 15 Mbps package for $85 from our local ISP provider. It is broadband broadcast from a tower, so has its limitations such as distance and line-of-sight. However, they have rented "space" on a microwave tower that is only about 1/2 mile from me and I just got upgraded to a 100Mbps package for $95 this morning! I was located 5 miles from my old tower.

I never heard of a Feliway diffuser; had to look it up. This is a product that really works. It's expensive, and I stopped using it for a while, but the difference in Willow's behaviour is striking. The science behind it seems to be valid, from my experience. From the Feliway site: "Cat Appeasing Pheromones (C.A.P) The cat appeasing pheromone is the appeasing pheromone, produced by mother cats to ensure harmony, and help her kittens feel safe and secure. It can also help cats to get along with each other, stimulating social contact and acceptance, and limiting social conflict and escape responses. FELIWAY FRIENDS is the synthetic analogue of C.A.P to help ease inter-cat conflicts and tensions, sending ‘harmony messages’ to cats and reducing social stress issues such as fighting, hissing, chasing and other tensions."
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning everyone. Very strong double dark coffee, extra strong tea and some hot chocolate are waiting in the break room. Congrats on your win Connie! I too live in the country and am literally at the "end of the line" for internet service. We are supposed to be getting fiber optic cable in the near future which will give us better internet speed. Shopping and a haircut today...hope you all have a great Tuesday! Gerry

This is like heaven for me with the super fast speeds. I wasn't getting it at first, but when I did a speedtest on my laptop, it screamed right up to 100 Mbps. So, the bottleneck had to be my older network adapter in my desktop. I built it 3 years ago. I had a new USB network adapter, so installed it. Speed went right up to 100! YAY! More happy dancing!
Today is planting my tomatoes and peppers. Hubby is heading out to use the big 5' tiller on the tractor. He will use an auger on the end of a cordless drill to make my holes and I will go behind and plant. Will have to quit for a couple of hours to do a tour at Longmeadow at noon.

Hello Boomers, hope you are all keeping well and having a nice day! Thanks guys for your kind words! Grandson met with his oncologist yesterday and was informed his cancer has spread to his abdomen (retroperitoneal). It is affecting the lymph nodes behind his stomach and just in front of his spine. Not what we wanted to hear. He will begin chemotherapy next Tuesday and will have to spend three days in hospital to receive the treatment. This consists of three different drugs which have to be given over the three days and will be mixed up so that he receives a different combination on each day. Each cycle of chemo lasts for 21 days. He will have the first three days in hospital then a break until day 8 when he will receive an injection of one of the drugs, then another break until day 16 when the same thing will happen. He will then have a break until day 21 when the whole thing begins again. As things stand at the moment he is to have 3 or 4 cycles which will be given at the cancer centre in Glasgow, a fair distance from here. As you can imagine, his mood has been very low. One of the reasons for this, apart from his diagnosis, is that he has to take time off work. This is a big thing for Adam as he absolutely loves his job. He is an IT technician for one of the big gas companies here. His bosses have been great with him and are always phoning or texting to see how he's doing. If for some reason the chemo doesn't work well enough, he will need to have surgery to remove the lymph nodes. He will be monitored closely for a few years afterwards. We are all hoping and praying the chemo does it's work. It's bright but cool here today although that doesn't bother me as I don't cope with heat very well. Hubby is the opposite, he hates the cold. We were having a chat last night and talking about how much our lives have changed in the last 4 years. We had just retired and had many plans on how we were going to spend our time, a lot of which would be spent at our holiday home, but you know, although our plans went out the window, we can't change what's happened and at the end of the day, we're both still here and very grateful for it. Take care guys! Much love, Mary
