You would think he'd keep his mouth shut until AFTER new people moved in. Right? What an idiot.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning all - hagatha, perhaps you should tell your neighbour that you have some strange ethnic background and threaten to put a spell or curse on him... Some Irish humour to to hopefully raise a smile: There was a power failure in a Dublin Department Store last week – and three hundred people were stranded on the escalators for more than two hours. ……………………………………. “O’Leary, your glass is empty, will you be having another one ?” “And what would I be doing with two empty glasses ?” O’Leary replied. ………………………………. Young Teresa came home with some dreadful news. “I’m pregnant” she cried. “And how do you know it’s yours ?” shouts her father. ………………………………… PADDY: “Hey Shaun, what’s Mick’s surname ?” SHAUN: “Mick who ?” ………………………………….. PADDY: “If you can guess how many pheasants I’ve got in me bag you can have both of them”. SHAUN: Three. …………………………………. Mrs Murphy said: “ I don’t tink me husband has been faithful to me”. “Why’s that ?” said Mrs O’Toole. “Me last child don’t look anything like him”. ……………………………………. Mrs O’Toole said: “I can only tell you this bit of scandal once because I promised Mrs O’Leary I would never repeat it” …………………………………… Shaun and Molly sat up all night on their honeymoon – waiting for their conjugal relations to arrive. …………………………………… Murphy had a rope hanging from a tree in his garden. Shamus asked him what it was for. “It’s me weather guide,” said Murphy. “If it’s swinging back and forth, it’s windy and if it’s wet, its been raining. …………………………………….. Murphy was told by the Doctor he had two weeks to live – so he chose the last week in July and the first week in August. …………………………………… Colleen dropped a Euro coin, intending it to fall into the blind man’s hat on the pavement, but missed. As quick as a flash, he scooped it up and put it in the hat. “You’re not blind” she said. “No I’m not” said Paddy, “It’s Murphy who’s blind. I’m just filling in for him while he’s gone to the pictures”. …………………………………… “We’re looking for a Treasurer for the Xmas fund”, said Paddy. “Didn’t you take on a new one last month ?” said Murphy. “That’s the one we’re looking for”, Paddy replied. …………………………………….. Father O’Flaherty asked Mrs O’Reilly how many children she had. "Four" was the reply. “That’s a good Catholic woman you are, and when will you be having the next ?” he asked. “I’m not Father”, she replied. “I read that every fifth child born in the world is Chinese”. …………………………………. The Dublin pensioners club go on a mystery tour every Wednesday and, to make it interesting, they have a sweep to guess where they are going. Shamus, the coach driver, has won five weeks on the trot.
Life is what happens while you're making other plans.

It's summer? Apparently we're supposed to be having a very hot summer this year but at this point we're in the midst of a cold, wet spell.
Lex, some very funny Irish humour there.
Took the little guy in to have some fur mats removed yesterday. Normally they sedate them, but I asked them to try without. Apparently my shy, skittish boy just sat there and purred while they snipped and combed. There was much cooing about what a good boy he is. He's normally terrified of strangers. Perhaps I should hand out brushes to visitors as they come through the door?
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Lex, Connie, hagatha, soot oldbroad and everyone. As always a fresh dark, strong brew is waiting for you...tea too! We are expecting a cool rainy day today. For 2 days we have had beautiful weather with no humidity! Hagatha sometimes my kitties would purr when they were stressed. My vet told me that purring actually acts as a self-soothing mechanism that eases nerves and helps your kitty deal with anxiety. When you notice your cats are purring during a stressful situation, they are most likely trying to stay calm. Wishing everyone a calm, stress free day and kitties too! Gerry

Last tour at Longmeadow today! I enjoy them, but am glad to be done for the summer.
I canned 12 pints of pickled beets yesterday and Guenter made goulash for supper!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Coffee is a must for me, too, Dan.
Somebody threw a huge pile of fish skins and guts onto the beach yesterday and we must have had 30 Bald Eagles and Turkey Vultures flying around all day long. It was quite the show!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Three was a bit of a whiff up the road, coming from the large field of blackberry bushes where our resident black bear, Stanley, lives. Methinks Stanley was also down there eating fish and brought some home.
Actually, there's still quite a lot of eagle activity down there on the beach!

Gerry, I WAS exhausted! Hit the bed before 11 both nights which is normally my alone time to stay up and read! I'm too old and fat to work this hard!
Hagatha, that sounds so cool to watch! We have the World Bird Sanctuary here and they had a flightless bald eagle trying to hatch - a rock! Murphy was very protective of his rock and determined to hatch it. Unfortunately, an eagle nest was blown out of a tree and both eaglets fell to the ground. One was killed and the Sanctuary took the other newly hatched eaglet and put him and Murphy together. Murphy then proceeded to "raise" the little eaglet. It's a very cool story that you can find by doing a search on Murphy and World Bird Sanctuary.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

No such luck, Gerry! I scored 48 pounds of gorgeous very tasty strawberries from the trip to the food pantry when they were trying to get rid of them! Guenter and Petra and hubby and I sat out on the pool deck and cleaned and sliced them. Froze 8 gallon Ziplocs and we already ate another one on strawberry shortcake. Making strawberry freezer jam today. One batch down and two to go! I'm eyeing a strawberry syrup recipe too in my Ball Blue Book, a canning and preserving publication.
The weeds will have to wait!

We're just starting to see local strawberries in the stores. Yum!
I read the story of Murphy and his rock/chick. So wonderful. He's a n old eagle, too, isn't he?
We have a pair that nest near here and hang out in the big evergreens by the water watching for fish. It doesn't look like they had a new chick this year so there must be a yearling around somewhere.

Murphy is a senior citizen at 31 years old. In the wild, they usually only live around 20 - 25 years.

Just watching two huge cruise ships go by in different directions, passing each other, all lit up against the dark sky. It's one of the things I'll miss about this place.
The sale of my house is done -- the subjects were removed today -- and I'm moving August 1st. Now I have to pack and resist the urge to second-guess myself. The new place is really quite lovely and all the nicer for being closer to civilization. I'm just going to have a couple of very disappointed cats who won't be able to understand why there are no balconies to sit on. I'd better start researching catio designs and working out where to put one.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha, oldbroad and everyone. Draclvr I love fresh strawberries any way you prepare them, but what a lot of work! I've never heard of strawberry syrup...I bet it is delicious homemade! Hagatha I'm so glad everything is working out for you! You've had to deal with so much change in your life in the last couple years...it is going to take time to adjust. I'm sure Willow and Duke would love a kitty condo or a catio they make such really nice one! Oldbroad I wondered about the "subjects" were removed too...maybe she meant the for sale "signs" were removed? Have a Happy Saturday! Gerry

Brilliant news about your house, hagatha 👍
I hope everything goes smoothly for the move now and that you will very much enjoy yourself in your new home 😍
And that your cats do also, of course !! 😑
