The subjects on an offer for a house are the items that have to be dealt with before the sale is finalized. In other words, the offer to buy the house is subject to a list of requirements that have to be met by a certain date. If they are not met by that date, the sale collapses. Subjects include obligations for either the buyer or the seller or both.

Typically subjects include a clause that says the offer is subject to the buyer obtaining financing or selling their current house, and usually the subjects include a requirement that a full building inspection be done with an agreement to remedy any serious defects. Once those subjects have been satisfied, the subjects are removed and the sale moves forward. In my case, there is mold in the attic from a construction mistake, and I paid to have that remedied.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Great news about the sale hagatha!

I note the lack of any further mention of the pesky neighbours: where did you bury the bodies? lol scared

I believe the new owners will quite handily manage my soon-to-be ex-pesky-neighbours. John and I were very easy-going because we were focused on John's health; these people will be a whole other kettle of fish.

Interestingly, the people who bought the place are old acquaintances of ours from our previous holiday condo here in town. It leaked very badly, and John spearheaded the push to have it properly repaired when the Board refused to deal with it.

Hagatha, what good, excellent news! Given your neighbor situation, I think you will be much happier elsewhere. But it's still the closing of a chapter in your life that is very difficult. I have a feeling your kitties are going to love having their own catio! I also thought the "subjects" may have been your neighbors! So, what DOES it mean?

Gerry, I wasn't sure about that strawberry syrup, but I made pancakes for everyone this morning and even the Germans gave it 5 stars! Going to make more of it!

Cleaning my house today. Let's just say that after yesterday's marathon strawberry processing, my kitchen was a disaster!

Draclvr I explained the subjects above. (No, not the neighbours! They are still alive and well! Honest! grin)

I've just realized where the catio will go. About 15 feet from the house is a big gazebo that now houses a hot tub, which is going to be taken away. I don't need the gazebo since I have a huge covered patio off the living room. So my contractor friend can build a sturdy overhead tunnel from the house (probably through a window) and turn the gazebo into a luxury catio. That way they can have a big safe outdoor space, it won't cost as much as starting from scratch, and the two little jerks can hang out there even if it's raining.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

The only downside I can see is that they will quickly learn that although there will be a human door into the gazebo part of the catio, the raised tunnel will be a no-human zone and therefore safe on days when one is scheduled to go to the vet...

Good afternoon everyone! Got some CINC-House taskings completed this morning and then some fun DnD this afternoon and getting ready for some quiet time with my better-half. Wonderful news on the sale of your house Hagatha, I imagine you are very much enjoying the weekend. I am also thinking you can close the catio tunnel access the night before one is scheduled to go to the vet and then one cannot hunker down in the no-human zone wink Hagatha, OldBroad, Mad, SpaceQuestFan, Lex, Draclvr, Connie, Gerry and anyone else who pops in -- Happy Saturday and enjoy your weekend!

Soot, I think you're right. Our previous cat Rachel, an outdoor cat, had a cat flap that we locked at night. A locking flap in this situation would be appropriate -- except that there are two of the little monsters and, well, you know the stuff about herding cats. I can imagine one coming in and the other shooting back out again, or one refusing to come in. Tricky little devils, cats.

Hagatha, I think I might like to be one of your cats! This is going to be so much better than a simple patio for them once they figure it out!

Hoo, boy. Another day I'm glad is over! Had to repair the upper rack on my dishwasher today. The poor thing is being run at least twice a day right now. I had already done one side about 6 months ago and now I understand why they sent both sides - the other one was bound to go too. Luckily the repair kit has metal parts where the original parts are all plastic. As I was trying to figure out how to snap which part where and position that part there, I was reminded of many adventure game puzzles!

Holy smokes it's hot here today - 95°F with a good stiff breeze. Petra did some laundry and hung it on the clothesline - it was dry in about 20 minutes!

I did get that dishwasher rack repaired, soot, and have already run 2 loads through it!

Gerry that syrup is really easy. Clean and halve or quarter 2 pounds of strawberries. Add 3 cups of water and the berries in a larger pot or pan and simmer until there is no more color in the berries. Strain into another pot using a mesh strainer and a couple layers of cheesecloth. I was cautioned in the recipe to not be tempted to squeeze the berries to get more juice or my syrup would be cloudy! Add 2 cups of sugar to the juice and simmer very slowly until you get the desired consistency. Will keep in the refrigerator in a glass bottle or jar for several weeks.

IMHO, other people's hot tubs are just ick. blech And I don't need the hassle of maintaining it. Much better for me and my contractor friend to work out the logistics of a catio instead. The main issue will be how to get the cats through a window flap into a tunnel into the catio itself over many feet. And how to make it secure so the little monkeys can't escape.

Drac, that syrups sounds really nice. Of course I won't be cooking until I'm settled in the new place.

The house clear-out has had me in near hysterics a few times when I find YET ANOTHER cache of papers and books and framed photographs and old electronic doo-dads and whatnots and plugs and wires and things like computer speakers from 15 years ago, and of course it all has to be shredded or donated or recycled. I already have 50 boxes of books, most of which I don't want. Hopefully there will be a few used bookstores near or in Nanaimo. The papers I'm going through a few inches at a time. John literally kept every piece of paper for 40 years, no exaggeration. There is a quarter of a file cabinet drawer devoted to the house we bought in 1982 -- literally receipts for paint we bought in 1990, quotes for a roof we had replaced in 1992. I'll be going to Staples twice a day for a week just to get rid of it all. hardwall

My husband is just as bad. Ummm... cancelled checks from the 1970's? Receipts for things that are no longer in existence? All I can say is, just think how much lighter you will feel when it's all gone!

Yes, it will feel good. The new place has very little storage so I need to really trim things down.

Working out in the tomato forest today, so the lower 88 degree temps are very welcome!

Some coffee and since I have this fresh strawberry jam, I'll take one of connie's bagels this morning with my coffee.
