I have a loose rule that if I don't use anything in 5 years, I get rid of it one way or another. That includes clothing. Hubby on the other hand, is a major hoarder of EVERYTHING! When he moved out here to my small farm with an old hog house, two grain bins, a barn and a big machine shed, he was in heaven - they are all full of indeterminate junk. Forty-eleven cardboard boxes full of spiders and mouse poo? He might need them some day. Aacckk! I would have a lovely bonfire!
I know it's been a slog, but you've accomplished a herculean task in the last several months. Hopefully soon you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and finish the move!
Taking another day to decompress today. Enjoyed the dark brew with the pancakes I made for breakfast. We used some of that yummy strawberry syrup I made on them!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

The slog does seem to have gone on for a long time. My house is a complete mess, utter chaos, but I keep reminding myself that 95% of the drawers are now empty and what I'm seeing is just the last little bits, apart from the art, which is another task in itself that will require getting special boxes from the moving company in Courtenay. There is still paper that needs shredding, but I just put it in a box labelled "shredding" and kept going.
The hardest thing was donating John's clothes, which I did last week. That really had an air of finality about it, a door closing for good.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yeah, I remember donating the clothing. That was rough. Not two months ago, I ran across a red flannel shirt that was his and it was a real shock - it's been 26 years since he passed.

I'll have some of that dark roast Sumatra, soot! Hard to believe it was 100 degrees here a week ago and we had 61 degrees last night! A nice cool day here.
Found my first ripe tomato in the tomato forest yesterday!

We've had a stretch of lovely weather with beautiful sea breezes in the morning, though it gets pretty warm in the late afternoon. My new house also has a heat pump so I'll be nice and cool there, too.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Gerry, my move out is August 1st at noon but my furniture won't be at the new place until the 2nd, so I'll be camping with the cats for a night. The moving window I had on August 1st was so short I'm having most of my belongings picked up on the 18th of July and stored until it can be delivered. I don't like the idea, though I know lots of people do that for just this reason. Somehow the realtors for all three parties involved had us all moving on August 1st! Ridiculous. Normally the days are staggered.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Lex, legally I have to be out by noon because that is when the new owners take possession of the house. That is when I am obliged to hand over the keys and leave.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Connie, hagatha, Lex, soot, and everyone. How did the bowling go last night Connie? Hagatha just a couple weeks before your move! It must be getting very stressful for you. If it were me I would like to have some time to just do some cleaning before I move in and some time to figure out where I want to put things. Lex have you retired yet? Soot hope you enjoyed your afternoon tea! Have a Happy Humped Day everyone! Gerry

Gerry, having the bulk of my furniture and boxes taken away and stored mid-month will allow me to clean and patch the walls, maybe do a paint touch-up here and there. I have my cleaner coming towards the end of the month to do a final big clean, and then I'm done.
It's a beautiful morning. I'm driving a friend to an appointment and after that I'll finish up the address changes with the Post Office and my driver's license/health card. I think those are the last two things I have to do.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Blessed rain last night - finally! Lots of thunder and lightning and wind, but the sweet corn is still standing! Hubby hasn't been down to the end of the driveway to check the rain gauge last night, but hopefully at least an inch or more. That won't even put a dent in the drought conditions, but at least we won't have to water the two huge vegetable gardens this week.
