Thanksf or coffee and donuts. Over here a warm but not hot Friday. Today is also Fête nationale française. Congratulations to those who celebrate. I intend to mark the occasion with some chèvre on the baguette.

It's Friday, Gameboomers!
I'm starting my prep work today for a "Thanksgiving in July" tomorrow afternoon. The Germans requested that I do a turkey for them while they are here as they have never had a turkey. So, I'm doing the whole 9 yards for them with dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cousin Dorothy's cranberry relish, a pumpkin and a peach pie and all the other sides. I love cooking this meal, so I'm looking forward to it!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Fogfighter, there's almost nothing I like better than some soft cheese on a crusty bread, perhaps with some olives or peppers on the side. I have a version of that almost every day for lunch.
Drac, I used to make huge turkey dinners for holidays. I think the last time I did that would have been Christmas of 2019.
We've had some lovely weather lately. I've been so busy packing I haven't been able to enjoy it, but today I have to drive down to Comox. I thought I'd drop by the mover's warehouse and see if they have any boxes I can use for packing my two large framed Robert Bateman prints. While I'm down there I might also go for lunch at my favourite restaurant, Locals, one last time before I move.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Just back from Comox/Courtenay, where I had a great coffee at my favourite coffee shop, then for a bit of shopping and on to a last lunch at my favourite restaurant, Local's. Tuna Tataki Stack. Yum!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

That plant robot is pretty cute. I wonder how my cats would react. I was thinking about getting one of those robotic lawn mowers for the new place but the lawn area isn't very big. It would probably only take about 20 minutes to mow anyway.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Well, the Thanksgiving in July dinner was a huge success! Another thing they had never had was pumpkin pie and they loved it. Stepson and DIL were here too and we pretty much demolished the 16 pound turkey. We are sitting around in a food coma tonight!

Drac, glad the dinner went off with a bang, Hagatha, I am told it is rather therapeutic to have a drink in your hand while watching one of those automatic mowers cutting your grass... Continuing unsettled weather here, but the tennis finals from Wimbledon have been the main events for this household over the weekend, especially Djokovic v Alcaraz later today!

I'd like to take a break today, but the sweet corn is ready. Which means we'll be shucking corn, blanching, cutting it off the cob and freezing. The Germans will be helping with shucking the corn, so that should go much faster. There will be plenty left out in the corn patch for some corn on the cob for the next couple of weeks.
Have a fabulous Sunday, Gameboomers!

Super strong coffee (bought French roast by mistake) and I'm off to Home Depot once again for more boxes. The movers are coming tomorrow for the bulk of my stuff, so I need to be ready for that.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
