It was quiet here yesterday! A friend came out and I helped her work up 6 gallons of tomato sauce which she took home to turn into pizza sauce and tomato soup and other various things to enjoy this winter.
Stayed up late reading, so I slept in this morning. I'm loving having the windows open again so I can listen to the chittering of the hummingbirds! They are slowing down after their feeding frenzy this last month in preparation for the migration back to Central America. I remember reading that they fly non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico... they are such amazing little birds. Just finished 150 pounds of sugar after filling the feeders this morning.
But, after an easy weekend, there is no rest for the weary! Today I'm heading out to start working on peppers. I'm getting lots of requests for my hot sauce again, so I'm going to put on a mash to start fermenting today.

Good Morning everyone. Connie stay safe ...hope you are not affected by the hurricane that hits Florida today. Double dark brew awaits...had my first cup already. Lost power for a couple hours early evening last night...another tree limb fell on the power wires. Power company needs to do a lot more tree trimming in our area...way to many trees overhang the power. Enjoy a peaceful day. Gerry

We have the same problem here, Gerry. Without fail whenever we lose power, it's because of a tree on a power line. Of course, we are surrounded by woods here.
Got my first hot sauce mash on to start fermenting yesterday. Now I'm looking at a huge bucket of pretty red ripe jalapenos trying to decide what to do with them! I will definitely smoke some of them, then dehydrate and grind up into chipotle powder. A friend who is one of the managers down at Longmeadow always gets a bunch of them to make into jalapeno poppers. She then freezes and gets out to pop in the oven all winter long. I might make a bunch and take into Elmer's tavern some afternoon.
Another warm, but gorgeous day ahead with no air conditioner running!
Stay safe, connie!

Finally, we have some rain! It came with a massive thunderstorm last night Apparently it will continue later today so I'm going to run and get groceries before the fireworks start again.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I tried to start a new thread on the Glitches Forum and when I go there I don't see it in the list of threads...did I do something wrong or doesn't it show until there is a response? Gerry

I'm in the midst of a furry rebellion. I was outside cleaning the pond and when I opened the door Willow shot outside. Then when I was chasing her Dude pushed the door open and almost escaped. It was almost like they coordinated it. Willow is just rolling on the warm concrete but refuses to come in and every time I go near the door, Dude runs over. I'm trapped. EDIT. In the end, she just wanted to go for her walk with me. It was the exact same walk as usual, just with no leash. When she was done, she headed for the door and came in. Too funny.

I did see that Super AND Blue Moon last night! It was amazing and I swear you could have read a newspaper outside!
Got a big bunch of medium hot peppers cold smoked yesterday, ground up with garlic and in the fermemtation jar with a salt brine to ferment for a hot sauce! They smell so good after just a couple of days. Hadn't wanted to can, but had some tomatoes going bad that would have had to go to the chickens, so I ended up with 6 more quarts of pasta sauce and 6 more pints of pizza sauce. Hubby has to go cut some fruit wood for me today so I can start a hot smoke on the ripe jalapenos for chipotle.
SO glad your sister didn't panic and call that number, Gerry! I've had people who did and it was not pretty...
Another gorgeous day in the 80's with no air conditioner running! League bowling tonight.
Happy Thursday, everyone!

It's been raining now on and off for two days. That will save my garden and hopefully help with any fires on the coast.
I'm picking up and installing curtain rods today, at least I will be if I can find my spirit level. It's somewhere in the huge mess in the garage.
Glad you're okay, Connie.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

So glad all is well with you, Connie. I have a friend in the Tampa area who just messaged me that all is well with her too.
Have fun in the garage, hagatha!
