Good Morning Connie, soot, hagatha, Draclvr, Lex and everyone. Got the double dark extra strong brew ready this morning! We are expecting extremely hot, humid weather with feel like temps around 102 today and not so good air quality. Going grocery shopping early and run a few errands later in the morning...no walk today not healthy to be out doors for long. Hope you all enjoy your day! Gerry

We're having a nice rainy morning here, so I can have a day of setting up some contractors instead of watering the garden for hours. I need to get my garden pruned soon, and I desperately need to find a general contractor/handyman to get this house set up. I'm getting a bit tired of living in a cluttered place.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Connie, Draclvr, hagatha, oldbroad, soot, fogfighter and everyone. Lots of double dark brew on to start the day. Enjoy! We have another hot humid day today with a heat advisory warning...probably to hot to walk again today. Hagatha hope you find a good handyman. Gerry

We sure have some early risers/late to bed people here in the break room! Oldbroad, I stay up late reading, but usually hit the bed by midnight!
Loving this cool morning with Gerry's double dark brew. STILL listening to hummingbirds chittering outside my window! I have never seen this many in the nearly 30 years I've been feeding them. I'm still putting out a gallon of sugar water every day. I think I'm going to have to buy that 18th ten-pound bag of sugar today.
Packing up a small box for my grandson and granddaughter who are attending Colorado State University today. Granddaughter will graduate in December and grandson is a freshman. He's really struggling with his anxiety disorder, so I'm going to try to smooth his rough waters with one of his favorites - Grandma's homemade hot sauce! He's looking forward to making his roommate jealous with his hot sauces and ground chipotles!
Then league bowling tonight.
It's almost the weekend, so Happy Thursday!

Good afternoon Draclvr, Connie, OldBroad, Gerry and others who get the chance to pop in for Gerry and Connie's treats! Gerry I'll have a caf and Connie a cinnamon crunch bagel please. I'm just home from a fast n' furious vacation with family at Bridges Bay Resort at Lake Okoboji, Iowa. It's good to be home. You must be on a migration route Draclvr.

Lake Okoboji is in my old stomping grounds, soot! I grew up in extreme NW Iowa and made many trips to 'Boji as we called it! Very cool place.
Missouri is smack dab in the middle of their summer range which extends north into Canada.

We still have hummingbirds here, too. I think people must feed the Anna's in this neighbourhood.
I've managed to get little Dude out for a couple of 15-minute leash walks this week. He's very nervous, but he clearly loved his little "walk" today because he's asking to go out again. This is a major victory. Neither of them wants be out for more than 15-20 minutes, so it's just an hour out of my day. and I get to spend it in my lovely garden.
I have lost a couple of small shrubs to the drought, though. We're still on hand-watering only and although I'm cheating a bit with my trees, putting the hose on low at their bases for a couple of hours, some of my smaller shrubs are extra-crispy. I'm thinking that anything that cannot survive a short drought shouldn't be in my garden, anyway.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Gerry and connie have set the mood for the day!
Even though I've been retired for 14 years, I still look forward to Fridays and the weekend!
Bottling up my smoked pepper hot sauce today and then it's date night tonight.

The cats both got outside an hours ago; the French door was closed but I guess not latched and Willow is big enough to push it open. I found them both walking around in the bushes along the fence, with Willow looking just a tiny bit mean, like she was going to chase him. I shooed Willow in, though she actually attacked me when I shooed her through the door. Dude is cruising around outside and wont' come in. I guess I'll have to wait until dinner time.
Starting to wish I had a dog instead.
EDIT: A couple of hours later and he still hasn't come back and I can't find him anywhere. He's gone.

Gerry he's an indoor cat and a scaredy cat and if something scared him he would just run and hide and he would run away from anyone who approached him. I'll go out again later when it gets dark but I'm pretty sure he's just gone. I'm leaving out his cage and blanket and some food and water in case he comes back but I'm not hopeful.
If it was Willow I wouldn't worry but Dude is pretty clueless. I'm trying to do a poster but my printers don't connect and I can't seem to get my photos from my phone to my computer.
EDIT: The little twerp showed up at the door ten minutes ago. Came right in, wanted to go back out. He's covered in mud and needles and clearly has had a grand adventure. I've often been highly suspicious of the SPCA's claim that he's always been an apartment cat. If it happens again at least I'll know he can find his way back.
