hagatha, I'm thrilled to hear about Dude and how well he is doing! Go Dude!!!

Lex, I laughed out loud at the cat med description! I do insulin shots, meds and ear cleanings etc and some pets require some real gymnastics to get it done!

Good Thursday morning! Ah, blessed silence - hubby went fishing today! And only two hummingbirds outside my window this morning. I might not even have to open up that 19th ten pound bag of sugar!

All I have on my plate today is a run in town to take care of kitties while my friends are off camping. And then league bowling tonight.

But for now... ahhhh! Gerry's dark brew will do just fine.

Definitely dark brew for me this morning; I have to get up at 4am to give Dude his medication. He finally started eating late yesterday, ate everything in the bowl of food I left him last night, and dove into the bowl of food I brought at 4. He's also using his litter box. I guess that's as good as can be expected considering the magnitude of the surgery. Also, his tail goes up when I pat him. Poor little guy is lonely in that room by himself but it's the only way to keep him quiet until his stitches come out.

We're on day 5 of rain, so I guess my garden will survive, except for one lovely evergreen that looks a bit rough. My 92-year-old mother arrives from Ontario next Friday so I'll be busy putting up some of my art and shuffling boxes into the garage to make some room.

Hagatha that is wonderful news that Dude is doing so well already!

Went for a long walk with a neighbour today -- ended up in a waterfront park with some incredible views over the Salish Sea and lovely trails to explore. This is the friendliest place I've ever lived. I already know half of the people on the street, which admittedly only consists of about 15 houses altogether, but still.

Good morning, Danish, Donuts and Bagels in the Break Room. No Fall here for at best another month. Going to CVI tonight with friends for Liver and Onions. They have it when there is a fifth Friday. Enjoy the day and hug someone.

What is this utter silence I hear outside my window? Could it be? No hummingbirds!!! I believe they have finally all moved through on their way south. I always keep a feeder up until at least the middle of October for the stragglers, but since the migration was so late and so long this year will probably leave it up longer. So, the tally for this year is 180 pounds of sugar! Wow...

No fall here either, Connie. Supposed to be close to 90 today and tomorrow. Liver and onions? NOPE! Not for me! I used to make it for my first husband and he said I did it well, but I couldn't even stand the smell while I was cooking it!

Gerry, nary a drop of rain in sight here... we are soooooo dry.

Today, hubby and I are heading to a local orchard about 45 minutes away to get a bushel of apples. It's a neat place with all kinds of activities for kids and wagon rides to pick your own apples in their orchards. We're just going to pick up the apples and some of their excellent cider. Then on Monday two of my friends are coming out and we will make applesauce. I'm down to my last jar from last year. It is so good and nothing like the stuff you get in a store. All we add to the apples is some cinnamon and nutmeg - no sugar.

Good morning all.

Gerry, Dude seems okay, but getting very bored and wants out. Sometimes I let him out of the kennel but not out of the room, and he's not happy about that. Otherwise he's eating and being his affectionate self.

I'm going to put up a couple of pieces of art today so that I can take the boxes out of the living room in preparation for my mother's visit. And if I have the energy I'll start going through by books to decide what to keep. It's a daunting task but I really need to empty my garage so I can park in it!

I very much like liver & onions but haven't made it for ages .... The local butchers here have to be persuaded to "offer offal"

Good afternoon; Looking out my kitchen window this morning & it's misty rain & 44F. Autumn is here to stay, it reminded of the song "all the leaves are brown & the sky is grey.

Yes, that would be California Dreamin'. One of my favorites!

It's a lot cooler here too and we are expecting a little rain tomorrow. It looks like we will have an actual autumn this year rather than going straight from summer to winter, and I am thrilled.
