Yikes, had to turn the furnace on last night! Not horribly cold, but 28 degrees F is enough to make this drafty old farmhouse cold. That dark roast is just the thing this morning!
Going to get my flu shot and hit the grocery store for some makings for chili and cornbread for the trap shoot my son is having out here on Saturday. Don't have a number yet, but it looks like at least 25 people.
Stay warm, kids!

I'm just warming up the house with a hot, strong coffee in hand. I have to turn the heat down at night because the blower in the crawl space is so loud it wakes me up. It's really chilly for the first hour.
I'm off up to Campbell River today to grab a back-up hard drive from a friend up there, and for a visit. It was the last backup of one of John's computers and it wasn't ready when I moved.
I have to say, I'm enjoying my new vehicle. The Accord was fast and sleek, but it was also very low to the ground and I'm finding the extra height o the CRV to be a blessing on the highway. The highway on Vancouver Island is almost empty most of the time so the drive is really enjoyable; some tunes and an open road.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I love my Smart thermostat! I just tell Alexa to turn on the heat! I have it programmed to turn on about an hour before hubby gets up. That way the bathroom upstairs is nice and warm for him.

My house is all wired up for Alexa but I don't use it. I'm just thrilled to have my front gates finally set up on a remote! I do think that my fireplace was set up on a thermostat so that it comes on early on a cold morning. The heat pump's blower is far too loud for sleeping. There was a bit of snow on the highway today and my car has ice on the windshield. I really need to get my garage cleared out but there's nowhere to put anything.

Some spooky dark roast to start this very cold Halloween morning! Don't know if my two little neighbor boys will be over or not tonight. I think mom, dad and grandma are back from trail-riding in Arkansas, so I have some candy in my skeleton bowl just in case!

It's pretty cold here, too. Winter is upon us!
I think Dude has more than recovered from his surgery. Yesterday he spent over an hour running up and down the hall at top speed. It was so joyful that even lazy girl Willow joined in for a few minutes. He no longer wheezes when he runs.
I've never heard another cat "meow" like he does. His normal meow is more like, "Mkah?" or "MGah?" Little weirdo.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Maine Coons have a very different sort of meow than other breeds. I have a Maine Coon so am well acquainted with it. : Yes, that's probably it. He doesn't have the full-on male Maine Coon face and he's quite small but one of my phone apps zoomed in on a photo of him and ID'd him as such. He looks more like a big kitten than anything else. We're headed for rain and warmer temperatures tomorrow. I have a morning walk planned with a neighbour but I think we'll still go if it's raining. I need the exercise.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Our first snow fall is happening now and it's sticking! Happy Halloween! Oh, no, oldbroad! Don't be sending any of that white stuff south now! Good morning all, You can send truckloads of that stuff my way oldbrrrroad bypassing Drac and have it dumped on my front yard so I can build a snowman and make a few angels before I BBQ. Born and raised in snow I sure do miss it. Its been 12 years since I have seen the stuff. I told my wife awhile back if it ever snows in Orlando I would shovel the entire block On second thought you have my permission to dump one truckload on Drac's front door but save the rest for me please Everyone have a good day

No snow for me! My driveway is short and very steep -- it's the reason I traded in my Accord for the CRV. Even so, it's steep enough to be slippery in snow, all-wheel drive or not.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Looks like we are gonna need a blizzard oldbroad with a lot of trucks
You living in Canada hagatha I can only guess you get plenty of snow. How warm and how cold does it get up there? Your daylight hours are very short that first day of winter, according to Alexa 8 hrs. Here in Florida on the shortest day, Dec 21, we get 10 hrs of daylight. That driveway of yours has to be a pain hagatha
Added to the snow drive - connie and soot
Took Mocha and Teddy, our two Pomskies, for their bi-monthly haircuts this morning. Waiting for that text to pick them up. Can't wait
We had a Maine Coon, Casper the not so friendly cat. He was a 22 lb beast. We let him out for the night a couple years back and he never came home. He was 15 when he disappeared. He became an outdoor cat for number of years. He owned the block. He became, I wanna say, feral. He would come home to eat all the time but would never come in. With some work we finally got him to come into the house but he was never comfortable. There were times he would go off on me while sitting on my lap biting and scratching. Little by little he was coming around but then was gone. We loved him!!
Everyone have a great day!
EDIT: I got them. Time for a treat, dehydrated London Broil strips that I prepare for them on a monthly basis. They love it!
It's never too late!
