Yes it downloaded fine with no error messages once I got the updated game manager. I was having problems with downloading some other games too. So I figured installing a new game manager would help. But oh my! As I was trying to install the game manager I kept getting these error messages that the app was corrupted . I finally tried downloading another game and low and behold! It worked! I got the updated one! I don't know why it worked this time but I'm not questioning it. bravo

Just started re-playing "Mystery Case Files : The Black Veil [CE]".

I know I've played some of it before because I'm remembering odd snippets - but I don't think I ever finished it.

Anyway, having a good time with it so far thumbsup

****************

I'm also dearly hoping to re-find a game that I once got more than halfway through (on WIN7 I expect) where there was one of those glitches that if you didn't do things in the order the developers expected you to, you came to a horrible and very DEAD standstill shocked

Big Fish gave me an alternative game at the time but said if I DID ever want to try to play it again, I was welcome to do so.
However, maddeningly, I can't remember the title of it now redface

I hit the fatal crash because I tried to open a door in a house (to get to the next room) without having first looked for and found a book on the bookshelves of that the room.
Agggghhhh sad

Mad, according to my notes, this is the game where that glitch happened. Mystery Case Files: The Black Veil, that you are now replaying.

Regarding playing old games on a new computer - I have posted a plea on the Glitches forum. Hope someone can help!

Well, I'm not sure about finishing Green Moon. You can be killed and you can run out of time while trying to do something. That is my big problem right now. I'm supposed to be making a "fighting machine" and have no idea how to do so. I did not know I was on a time limit AND I only discovered too late that all the saves I was making were not being made right and so, if I cannot make the fighting machine I will have to restart the game from the beginning. I'm going to see if I can find a walkthrough to help me out of this mess! I am in Task 8 of 12.

There are probably videos on YouTube for Green Moon too.

I had forgotten about the time limit business. That may be why I did not play it right away back in the day.

I see that Big Fish still has a walkthrough for the game.

Yes, I used the Big Fish walkthrough and made it through Task 8 with a good bit of help. The time limit on that particular thing was not short at all but I just didn't know about it, although now and then a message would pop up saying that Greece was still waiting for me or something. The only other timed thing I've run into is needing air on the moon which is very easy to rectify and now that I've finished Task 8, I won't have that problem anymore. There are mini games though. I didn't really have to "build" a machine - I just had to give the guy the blueprint - but then, I had to sink 30 ships in a mini game. You miss just one and that's it; you start the mini game over after reloading a save. I somehow managed it once I learned the controls and started using my keyboard instead of the mouse. There is even a small, helpful video linked in the BF walkthrough.

I can certainly understand why people liked the game, and also why they didn't. It is different. Some parts feel tedious and some are hard (to me), but it is interesting too. Four more tasks to go and I'm not going to waste too much time anymore trying to figure things out though. I'll use the walkthrough if I get stuck.

Yes, I remember people talking about that mini game with the ships. Overall it sounds like it is worth playing, but good to know about these possibly rough spots in advance.

Do you plan on playing Green Moon 2 at some point?

I believe the game is worth playing. I don't know if it plays on Win 10 or Win 11. And, there is no "skip" button for the puzzles, just in case you didn't know that. I'm sure reviewers did mention that though, if you looked at them.

Yes. I have Green Moon 2 download to my Win 10 computer already. I won't play it right away of course, but soon-ish I hope.

oldbroad - you are certainly one plucky Old Broad. I admire your stick-to-itivity!
As again, you have inspired me to try a game I haven't heard of. I will give it a look.

Thanks for that; and thanks for your help in another forum. You are a valuable Gameboomer!

Aw, you are too sweet, Tally Ho! Thank you! blush

Remember though, I am playing Green Moon in Win 7 and have read on Gamehouse that it doesn't work in Win 10. I will, however, download and install it to my Win 10 computer and test it out though if you think it sounds interesting.

EDIT: Confirmed that the game does NOT work in Win 10 (at least not mine). I tried it two times. It won't let me put inventory items into the inventory slots and it crashed both times on me in the same place.

Tally Ho, Shivers 1 and 2 are both on GOG; see your thread in Glitches for more details.

Yes, I also read that Green Moon has problems with Windows 10, although one poster said that changing the game to a different compatibility mode worked for them (probably Win XP). Overall, though, I would say stick to Windows 7/XP for that one.

You're welcome Tally Ho. Green Moon 2 shows that it works on Win 10 on BF. I know you have Win 11 now. Don't know if you have to play 1 to understand 2 and 2 sounds easier with some skip buttons according to the reviews I skimmed over.

Marian, I didn't even think to change the compatibility. I could try that later maybe.

I finished Green Moon tonight but was a little disappointed in the ending. The walkthrough looks like you will see some visual of the green moon but I didn't see anything. After the last step, the game just ended. I even went back in and re-did the end. Same thing. duh

Not sure yet what's next.
