I woke up early this morning to about 6 inches of snow and it's still coming down heavily. Once I've had my coffee I'll get out and clear snow from the pond, but since the temperatures have warmed I don't think it will freeze. One complication is that the prescriptions that were supposed to arrive today in my mailbox will not be getting here since the local roads aren't ever plowed and the mail truck won't be able to get in. Of course, this being coastal BC, the snow will turn to rain and everything will be ice. Good thing I did a last-minute shop last night to ensure that I have enough of everything for a few days.

Wow. Everything started to melt and now we have another heavy snowfall warning for tonight and tomorrow. It looks as though my blinds won't be installed on Friday, after all, since nobody is getting in here until the snow is gone.
The good news is that the handyman got my office shelves up yesterday and my books are all unpacked! Some of them haven't seen the light of day for 9 years, since we moved from West Vancouver. I even had enough room left over to unpack all my TV show and movie DVDs. Now I feel like I'm at home. And now I can start to organize my garage.
I have only a few pictures left to hang and I should be done.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

There may be a lot of snow but it's warmed up considerably. It is supposed to snow again today. We missed our garbage pickup last week and I suspect we'll miss this week, too.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good late morning! Didn't have time for coffee this morning, so I'm having some with lunch.
Squeaky, my ancient barn cat will live to see another day! Her kidney numbers were still in the normal range and all the other bloodwork looked perfect. She started eating yesterday, so I think she was just traumatized at being brought inside. As I suspected she is blind in one eye and doesn't have much hearing left.
Company arriving this afternoon for a few days.
Nice day today, but back down in the zero weather starting tonight and tomorrow.
Happy Thursday!

Marian, I see so much animal abuse in the horse rescue and in the other cat and dog rescue groups I am a part of, I feel a responsibility to do the best I can for my own critters.

Good morning! Where are you headed, Fogfighter?
Just have time for a quick cup of coffee this morning. Family arrived yesterday from the East Coast to stay for a few days.
Very cold here too... back down to the deep freeze!

As we head towards the weekend, mark these words...
And on the 8th day, God created seniors. Most seniors never get enough exercise. In His wisdom, God decreed that seniors become forgetful so they would have to search for their eyeglasses, keys, and other things, thus doing more walking. And God looked down and saw that it was good.
Then God saw there was another need. In His wisdom He made seniors lose coordination so they would drop things, requiring them to bend, reach, and stretch more. And God looked down and saw that it was good.
Then God considered the function of bladders and decided seniors would have additional calls of nature, requiring more trips to the bathroom, thus providing more exercise. God looked down and saw that it was good.
So if you find, as you age, you are getting up and down a lot more times, remember it's God's will. It is all in your best interest even though you mutter under your breath.
Nine Important Facts to Remember as We Grow Older:
#9 Death is the number 1 killer in the world.
#8 Life is sexually transmitted.
#7 Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
#6 Men have two motivations: hunger and sex, and they can't tell them apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich.
#5 Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks, months, maybe they won't bother you for years. 😆 😁
#4 Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital, dying of nothing.
#3 All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.
#2 In the 60's, people took LSD to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, and people take Prozac to make it normal.
#1 Life is like a jar of jalapeno peppers. What you do today may be a burning issue tomorrow.
Please share this wisdom with others; I would do it now but I need to go to the bathroom.
I made the characters bold and bigger so you could read this.

Good Morning everyone and Welcome to the weekend. I have the double dark "Wide Awake" coffee brewing to start the day soot. Lex thanks for sharing those words of wisdom! Hagatha so good to hear you are settling in and feeling like you are home. Draclvr enjoy your visit with family. So glad to hear Squeaky is doing okay too. We are getting frigid arctic air coming down from Canada this weekend...will make it difficult to walk...feels like well below zero temps! A good time to puzzle and do some gaming! Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend! Gerry

Thanks for witty reminders Lex. So true. Dracvlr, Connie, oldbroad, soot: I was heading home after a visiting parents. Eventually the train made it though there was a two hour delay. People bravely endured waiting outdoors in near arctic cold without complaining too much. I on the other hand still shiver just thinking about it. Perfect to have some of the Kaki's sister wide awake coffee now. Take care everyone and enjoy the weekend!

Good morning!
Just cooked the big biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon breakfast for everyone this morning. That's just too much food for me in the morning, so I just poured some coffee and visited with them. Birthday party at the American Legion Post in the nearby town at 1. Hubby's nephew is turning 70.
SO cold again this morning -1 below zero. I got up at 3:00 am to run a load of laundry through the washing machine trying to keep the pipes from freezing. So far, so good. Supposed to be back up in the 40's all next week... I'm ready for it!
Happy Saturday!

I'm off to "help" a new acquaintance pack for her move. Today I'm also "helping" her paint a wall. I'll be telling her that after today I won't be "helping" her any more, since I seem to be the only person actually doing any work. She's new acquaintance, someone I met in my Hospice group for people who have lost their spouse. I thought she was sort of interesting but last night I received a 14-message drunk-texting screed about how it wasn't possible for me to be snowed in last week and I should have been there packing. Sometimes you just gotta back away... It has warmed up overnight and the snow is melting nicely. Hopefully we'll get a garbage pick-up. They missed last week and this week and today is supposed to be a catch-up service.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
