Good morning! Ah... thank you for the dark brew, Gerry! Perfect...

We have a local amateur weather guy who has a Facebook page with 79,000 followers. He runs circles around the so-called pros at the TV stations with his weather predictions and explanations. Yesterday, he made us all laugh by issuing a "blowing trashcan warning!" And, indeed the wind is blowing so hard, there will be trashcans rolling around!

Night off from league bowling tonight.

Happy Thursday!

Good morning everyone.

I forgot to turn the heat down last night. CONS: the fan blower is very loud and it woke me up a couple of times. PROS: It's so loud I couldn't hear Willow yowling at my door. lol

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Exactly.

We're having some really lovely weather, cold but sunny and clear. Great days for walking.

Good morning. I'm also making a small grocery run in town after I enjoy some of this lovely coffee Gerry brewer earlier! It is a tradition that I make home-made pizza for Super Bowl. We don't do anywhere because we'd rather watch the game and it's usually so damned noisy at a bar. Being from Missouri, this year we have a team to root for again! Go Chiefs!

Connie, that IS a busy weekend! Party animals, right!

I just received word from one of my sisters that my mother is in hospital with COVID complications. She's been fighting it on and off for three months now and has been having chest issues for the last few years anyway. It's very worrying for me since I have nobody to look after my cats if I need to go to Hamilton on short notice.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

No advertised pet care people who would come to your home once a day? Or boarding facilities? Could a neighbor come by once or twice a day to make sure they have food and water and clean the litter boxes? I do that for my friend and her partner when they go camping in the spring and summer. They return the favor when we go somewhere except they have to take care of chickens too!

What a worry for you hagatha on both fronts: hoping it all works out okay! catrub

Afterthought: might there be a reasonably mature young person locally you could employ to move in to house and cat sit?

I don't really know any of my new neighbours well enough to ask and I'm not willing to hand over a key to all my possessions to a young person I don't know. There is someone up the road who could at least feed them for 2-3 days but she has her own health problems and has mobility issues. Anyway, let's hope it doesn't come to that.

hagatha, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. As you know, I am a pet care provider/boarder for a living. I'm a member of Pet Sitters International and they are the leaders in training, insurance, bonding etc for pet care providers. There is one in your area that is also a member and she has good reviews. Membership is not free and it helps separates the hobbyist from the real providers since most hobbyists throw little money into continuing education, insurance etc. YOu can contact them Here or here.
It may give you some peace of mind.

Hi everyone! hubby had his 2nd total knee replacement yesterday so juggling work and caring for him. It's been busy!
Happy Friday!

Thanks for that link! I will get in touch with them and sign up. I do already have an account with Trusted Housesitters, it turns out, but I'd much rather go with a known entity.

My mother is 92 and is showing signs of heart failure -- not unexpected at her age. She insisted that my sister and I should not get on a plane; she visited us both recently and would be just as happy with a Zoom call. We'll both be at the ready anyway. By tomorrow morning the doctors should have a good idea which way things are moving.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good luck, hagatha. I hope your mom will be okay.

Ana, I hope your husband recuperates quickly. Work some rest time in there!

Have a good weekend all!

Edited to add the word "husband" which I apparently missed.

hagatha, you don't need to sign up, the link should take you direct to the company of the lady that services your area. It's a private company like mine, and she is a member of the same organization as I am (Pet Sitters international). You just need to reach out directly to her. Both of those links are for the same lady.

Thanks, oldbroad. He's a little short tempered today, but I have thick skin. lol

Good morning. Just fixed hubby his weekly big breakfast and just have time to sit down for a cup of coffee. We are going to a visitation for a friend who passed a few days ago this morning.

Back to cloudy and chilly. There is even talk of snow Monday morning!

Happy Saturday!
