A friend had a raccoon stroll right in the house through the cat flap! They had quite a time getting it back outside! Definitely a locking system!

Ah, yes. The raccoon-through-the-cat-flap. We had that happen once. Rachel was sitting on the top of the couch looking astonished when we came home, and the garbage can was not only opened and turned on its side, the garbage was strewn everywhere. Fortunately after the shenanigans and eating the cat food, the beast had left the premises before we got home.

Basically, raccoons are cats with opposable thumbs.

LOL! What a mess! And they are also vicious killers. They can wipe out a small flock of chickens overnight. A friend who lived in St. Louis had a small coop with 4 chickens. They got in one night and killed all of them. She had the little monsters on camera.

I also seem to remember John chasing a raccoon out through the back door with a broom once. They were everywhere in that neighbourhood. Basically, they were friendly to people and pets all summer, and then became predators in the winter.

Finally Monday again. Since it's morning already I made some double dark wide awake brew. Should be enough for all of you. No racoons over here, fortunately. Happy Monday Gameboomers

The garbage truck caught the cable and phone wires, pulled the wires and pole down in our back yard and across the street. We have police, fire dept, power, cable, and phone people here. When you're retired every day is Saturday, I find. In this neighbourhood, many people are retired so the Monday morning rush past my house takes about three minutes.

I don't know what our forecast is but it's cloudy right now. The last couple of days started cloudy too but ended up sunny.

We had a beautiful sunny day yesterday with a brisk wind that added a chill to the air...but the sun felt so good! I had a great walk...long and warm in the sun.

The landscapers will be here today to prune my large shrubs and hedge. I'm hoping they can spare some time to show me how to use my watering system so that I don't have a repeat of last year's near-death of two large evergreens (which will never be the same). It looks as though my late-Fall lawn feeding has worked pretty well, though there's a lot of moss in the lawn. I'm starting to think about reducing the lawn space in favour of something else. Perhaps more patio. I don't want more beds. That's just more work.

Connie glad to hear all is back to normal. Soot is right if you don't get after the power company it could take months before they remove the broken pole.

Soot, the landscapers did a great job, even cleaning up some of the leaves and detritus left from the Fall. They'll be coming back later in the Spring to set up my watering system and give me a tutorial. The pond maintenance crew will come at the end of March and get that all cleaned up, too. I'm looking forward to my Wisteria blooming. I haven't seen it in flower yet.

Good day everyone; every Wednesday starting at 8 o'clock till 11 I watch the Chicago three: Chicago PD then Chicago Med & followed by Chicago Fire. I love these shows but it's the last year for them. Oh well, everything comes to an end.
