We've all been calling all day and nobody ever answers the phone at the nurse's station. We have no idea what's going on.

Well, that's not a good thing. How worrying... does she have an attending physician you can contact?

There is no way to reach a specific doctor at the hospital, or at least the operator isn't willing or able to put me through. My sister Hannah has the doctor's name but he didn't give her any contact information; you are automatically transferred to the nurse's station, and nobody ever answers the phone. Hospitals in Ontario are severely understaffed, it seems.

Well, SUPPOSEDLY, no news is good news, but I certainly agree that is frustrating!

This is just not acceptable when you are trying to get information on a loved one!

I finally heard from the nurse. There's been no real change; she's stable for now but they had to drain her lungs yesterday so it's not great. My Victoria sister will be there tomorrow.

Oh, I certainly agree that you should be able to talk to somebody, Drac!

Good morning. Stayed up too late reading, so I'm late to the break room this morning. Yup, there's coffee left!

So glad you finally have some news about your mother this morning, hagatha. Hope they can get the heart failure stabilized for her.

Just me and hubby for the Super Bowl game today... making our traditional home-made pizza. We don't go to a noisy bar because we actually want to watch the game!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. My mother is 92; she's had a full life and isn't afraid of death.

Good morning. Whew! What a football game. A cliffhanger to the very end. And I don't care what the haters say, I think Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is the sweetest romance ever. It's just nice to see some joy and happiness. Not a fan of her music, but she is one very talented and savvy woman.

We are supposed to have snow today... shouldn't stay around as the ground temps are too warm.

Soot, my mother has actually stabilized and they're talking about her going home in a few days once they have her medications tweaked. She doesn't want us coming out to visit right now. In the meantime, I can get my house ready for having a stranger come to stay; I need a safety deposit box at the very least. It would also mean finding a way to secure all of my financial records, which is not easy given that there is no basement here. I can't lock the crawl space since the furnace is down there. I have some time now to get all of that ready.

Draclvr, I feel the same about Swift; I really (really) don't like her music but you have to admire her accomplishments.

We are getting snow...big snow flakes coming down right now...beautiful to watch. Snow will end early this afternoon...we are expecting 4 to 8 inches in the latest update. I might be able to take a short walk if the snow stops early enough this afternoon...may be too slippery though.

The snow we were supposed to get yesterday stayed south of us. Sunny and cold today - seems like a good day to plant my pepper seeds. Some of the pepper seeds take a month to even germinate!

The closest I will get to snow is playing a little more of Flake The Legend of Snowblind - I can throw all the snowballs I want!

Anyone I hire to housesit. I have a friend who has people house-sit for her and she knows the ropes. Even with a company like Trusted House Sitters she's had a couple of horror stories; she was looking in with her camera app on her phone on one occasion and witnessed a wild party going on in her house. Another time the woman who was supposed to be housesitting was only there a couple of times a day. I'm not a very trusting person. I worry about theft or even worse, identity theft.

We got over a foot of snow yesterday and overnight the slush on the roads froze so no walking for me today. Temps in the 20s today with wind chills in the teens.
