Good morning all! A wet weekend here, so perhaps an excuse for some gaming... I am enjoying an interesting consequence of a scam email trying to make me renew a non-existent Norton security subscription: for some reason it had been sent to a very large number of people sharing my name, Kevin, and we are now in touch with each other to compare notes. Some more silliness to raise a smile: Being a little older, I am very fortunate to have someone call and check on me every day. He is from India, and he's very concerned about my computer. I choked on a carrot this morning, and all I could think of was, "I'll bet a doughnut wouldn't have done this to me." Nothing spoils a good story more than the arrival of an eye witness. (Mark Twain) I finally realize why I look so bad in pictures. It's my face. It only takes one slow-walking person in the grocery store to destroy the illusion that I'm a nice person. It turns out that when asked who your favorite child is, you're supposed to pick one of your own. I know that now. It's fine to eat a test grape in the produce section, but you take just one bite of rotisserie chicken and it's all, "Sir, you need to leave!" One thing no one ever talks about when it comes to being an older adult is how much time we devote to keeping a cardboard box because it is, you know, a really good box. If you dropped something when you were younger, you just picked it up. When you're older and you drop something, you stare at it for just a bit contemplating if you actually need it anymore. I like to make lists. I also like to leave them laying on the kitchen counter, and then guess what's on the list when I am at the store. My grandkids say they want a cat for Christmas. Normally I serve turkey, but, hey, if it will make them happy. Ask your doctor if a drug with 32 pages of side-effects is bad for you. I re-labeled all of the jars in my wife's spice rack. I'm not in trouble yet, but the thyme is cumin. I just read a book about marriage that says treat your wife like you treated her on your first date. So, tonight after dinner, I'm dropping her off at her parent's house. The best way to get back on your feet is to miss two car payments. I love bacon. Sometimes I eat it twice a day. It takes my mind off the terrible chest pains I keep getting. As I watch this generation try to rewrite history, one thing I am sure of is that it will be misspelled and have no punctuation. Driver: "What am I supposed to do with this speeding ticket?" Officer, "Keep it. When you collect four of them, you get a bicycle." I asked a supermarket employee where they kept the canned peaches. He said, "I'll see," & walked away. I asked another & he also said, "I'll see," & walked away. In the end, I gave up & found them myself in Aisle C. I told my physical therapist that I broke my arm in two places. He told me to stop going to those places. I put our scale in the bathroom corner & that's where the little liar will stay until it apologizes. When I was a kid, I used to watch the ‘Wizard of Oz’ & wonder how someone could talk if they didn't have a brain. Then I got Facebook. I want to be 14 again & ruin my life differently. I have new ideas. Apparently RSVPing to a wedding invitation with "Maybe next time" isn't the correct response.
Life is what happens while you're making other plans.

Lex Made me laugh out loud! I hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday. Glad I don't have to do much today, because this messing with the clocks thing bothers me more the older I get. Gerry, I hope your power stays on!

Good Morning Connie, Foffighter, Lex, soot, oldbroad, Marian, hagatha and everyone. Double dark Wide Awake coffee is ready to start your day! So far I have not lost power, but with the high wind alert all day today it could happen. We had a snow shower this morning...just a light dusting thank goodness. Feel like temp this morning is in the teens. May not be able to walk with the high wind alert...too many trees and the danger of falling limbs. Enjoy your Monday! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Dude's going in to the vet for removal of a large fur mat that I've been trying to snip off for weeks. I have to sedate him for this one because they'll be shaving the little monster, so I had to roll him up in a towel into a kitty burrito and administer said medication. He's stomped off somewhere but pretty soon the Gabapentin will kick in and I'll find a snoring cat somewhere in the house. I need to get the handyman back here to install another cat flap in the garage so Dude can let himself in later at night. It'll lock behind him when he does finally show up. He's a roamer, unfortunately, and has taken to rushing the door whenever I open it, so the cat is out of the bag, as it were, and he's an outdoor boy now. If I don't let him out during the day he howls all night. I surrender. But what I don't understand is this; where is the lazy old cat we were told by the SPCA we were getting? This is not that! It's a good thing they're cute.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Monday morning! Hagatha, I laughed because I just had a similar conversation with my friend whose cats I take care of when they go camping. Our final comment was, "Why is it we have cats again???" My ancient barn kitty continues to do fine. She sleeps about 22 hours a day! She loves to be petted and scratched, but doesn't understand the concept of laps. When I'm done, she gets down and waddles back to her little nest in the shower in the bathroom. Hubby is going fishing with some guys at the lake on our old family farm near here this afternoon. It's pretty chilly this morning, so they are waiting until it warms up a bit. I'm getting a small box of books together to send out to my grandson in Colorado who has social anxiety issues. He's into historical fiction and I have a bunch of old books such as Shogun which he has to wait months to check out from the library out there. While digging, I found an ancient dog eared hard cover copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin. I'm thinking this edition is from the early 1940's because it has my mother's maiden name inside. The pages are so yellowed it would be hard for me to read, but maybe his young 20 year eyes could make it out!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Dude was such an easy cat at the old place. But one look at the garden and the forested area around here and he was obsessed. Ah well. He'll have a rich life, get a few scars, and maybe live a long life and maybe not. He was out until midnight last night. What was interesting was that Willow got quite concerned that he wasn't home and she parked herself in front of the French doors, anxiously looking out into the garden.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Willow cracks me up sometimes. It's cold and very windy outside today and Dude is crashed from his Gabapentin, so I quietly let her outside. She was only out for about 10 minutes, but when she got in she raced around the house for about ten minutes with her tail in the air. She's a bit of a lazy fat cat so the ungainly thundering around is hilarious. But if ten minutes outside revs her up like that, it has to be a good thing.
I was cross at myself for not getting my taxes done and sent, but today another three tax documents arrived so it's all good and I can pretend I planned it all along.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Fogfighter, Connie, hagatha, Draclvr, soot, Marian, and everyone. Double dark Wide Awake brew is freshly put on. Spring is getting closer...we are experiencing March winds again today...lost power briefly yesterday. The next couple of days our temps will reach the 60s and we will actually see the sun! Have a dentist appointment this morning...need a small cavity filled. Hope you all enjoy a sunny day! Gerry

Good morning everyone. It was still dark when I woke up this morning and I was convinced it was still very early. Then I checked my phone and realized it was 7 am. Way more pleasant than having sun in my eyes at 5 o'clock. That coffee is just right for a lazy morning, then it's off to get cat supplies and look at power washers and lawn treatments and some grass seed for a bald patch.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I think I might be developing webbed feet Although a mainly mild Winter, in my area of the UK anyway, the rain has been constant and at times astronomical. But rumours are now abounding of a blistering Summer to come - and heat, for me, is worse than the dratted rain. However, the USA certainly suffers more extreme weather than the UK and I don’t know you folk over there cope 😱

A beautiful day after all the rain we've been having. A Happy Day wished for you all! Gerry
