Good Morning everyone and Welcome to the weekend! Double dark Wide Awake Brew awaits along with fresh pastry and sour cream cinnamon coffee cake just in case Connie doesn't get to the break room this morning. Marian I did not feel the earthquake but my son did! He lives in New Jersey. The quake was centered about 8 miles from his home and it registered 4.8 on the scale! Because it was only 2.9 miles deep it was felt more and further out from the center. There was an after shock later that registered 4.0. He felt them both! There were places in Connecticut that felt the quake as well. I was on my walk when it occurred and I felt nothing. It is going to be another cloudy day with a breeze that will make the 40 degree temps feel like 30s! Hope you all get to have a sunny day filled with warm temps! Gerry

Another nice day, with a bit of rain the afternoon. My garden is starting to bloom and I can see a few things I didn't know I had. The Star Magnolia is gorgeous right now. I've had the pond and waterfall cleaned and it's all very nice, with the red Acer that drapes over the water coming into leaf. There are a few bare spaces where I lost mature Heather plants due to drought last year and I'm trying to find relatively large specimens to replace those. Next week the deck will be power washed and the whole thing ready for summer.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Fogfighter, soot, hagatha, Draclvr, and everyone. Double Dark Wide Awake brew is filling the air with a delicious aroma! I brought pastry, donuts, and bagels to go along the coffee. Glad you are enjoying the DDWAB Fogfighter! Soot I did get a nice long walk in yesterday and will again today. Hagatha my daffodils have been in full bloom for a couple weeks and my forsythia bushes have started to turn a beautiful bright yellow! Enjoy your day every one! Gerry

Good morning Gerry, Hagatha, Fogfighter, Draclvr, OldBroad, Marian, Connie, Lex, Mad, Ana and visitors who pop in later. Long walks are wonderful Gerry, I typically start my day with a long walk at the park unless it's storming. And nature's symphony is an incredible backdrop to the morning's sunrise. Yes indeed, spring is blooming. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Sunday afternoon!
Warming up, but I'm REALLY tired of the wind! Today I'm transplanting my tomato plants from their starter flats into their individual little cells where they will grow on under the grow lights in the basement. It's very tedious work and I'm taking a break! We won't plant outside until the first or second week of May. Although, the weather has changed so much for the warmer here that our area has even been reclassified as a Region 7 for being able to grow plants that need warmer weather.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good Morning soot, Draclvr and everyone! Welcome to Eclipse Day! Extra Double Dark Wide Awake is ready. Will run errands this morning, but start my day with my usual long walk. Enjoy the eclipse if you can see it. Gerry

Good Monday morning! Connie, I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how the training was going. Sounds like it was well-worth getting up at 4:30 am for!
Bright and sunny so far for the eclipse today.

Good morning everyone.
We're having a foul day, so bad that when I opened the door for Dude this morning, the wind whipped it out of my hand and almost slammed it against the wall. Needless to say, no cats have left the house today.
I'm off to Yoga later this morning and then I'm waiting for the delivery of what I hope is my new hallway carpet runner, a gift from my mother. I'm not sure of the colour and won't know until I see it in the house.
I still haven't completely set up the house -- I have boxes of CDs in the garage and nowhere to put them. I'll have to digitize them, but I have hundreds of them and it's a huge job -- though I can probably cull a lot of them.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Gerry, that earthquake sounds like it was an interesting experience for your son! I am sitting here getting ready to (hopefully) enjoy my day and observe whatever the eclipse may bring. Have a good day, everyone!

Hagatha, a few years ago, I digitized most of our many, many music CDs. It was very tedious and I did them 10 at a time and stored them on my Western Digital Home Server. So, I have them in three places... on my computer drive, on the server - which I can access from anywhere there is an internet connection with an app on my phone - and in my automatic backup with Carbonite.

Draclvr, I start the process a few years back and then abandoned it when things heated up with John's health. Is there a software you recommend?

Hagatha, I tried a couple different programs, but nothing worked as easily as good old Windows Media Player. Opened it up, popped in a CD and selected RIP. When it was done, it was automatically saved in my Music folder with the artists name and album cover if it is available.
The eclipse was quite impressive! And STRANGE.

Good Morning Connie, Draclvr, hagatha, oldbroad, Marian, soot, and everyone. I did get to view the eclipse yesterday...got some eclipse glasses from a neighbor! It was amazing! Double dark Wide Awake Brew is ready to go with Connie's treats! We are going to have a warm, partly sunny day today...nice before the rain returns tomorrow and Thursday. I have an appointment for my car this morning at 8am. It takes almost an hour to get to the dealer so I'll be on the road at 7am. Enjoy your day everyone! Gerry

Greetings all, I still use iTunes for my music collection and back that up: seems to to work fine at uploading the CDs and listing the tracks. I have been tempted towards Amazon Music, but that makes a charge for storing anything not purchased from Amazon (not an issue on iTunes). A lot of rain here with strong winds, but that is almost standard for us except for a couple of summer months: at least water shortages are not often a problem, and if there ever is a hosepipe ban it usually anticipates a problem which fails to come to fruition! Off to do my more or less weekly session at our local Citizens Advice Service this morning: a chance to catch up on any local gossip...

My laptop doesn't have a CD drive so I have to use an external. Not sure how much that complicates things. Also, WMP is now "legacy" so I would have to download it.
We saw nothing of the eclipse here. I'm envious of those who had a front-seat view of it.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning Gerry, Hagatha, Fogfighter, Draclvr, OldBroad, Marian, Connie, Lex, Mad, Ana and everyone who gets the chance to pop in for Gerry's double dark wide awake brew and a treat from Connie. Hope your appointment is smooth...drive safe Gerry. Enjoy lunch & Netflix Connie. Hagatha, I downloaded and reinstalled the legacy Windows Media Player...didn't care for the new Win 11 version. But that's been the norm for me with Windows updates. I use iTunes also Lex as I still love my iPod Nano 7th generation player. Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.

Good Tuesday morning! I'm heading down to the horse rescue to do a school tour at 10. Hagatha, I also use an external drive. I did get a really good one as ripping does tend to heat them up. I still have WMP on my Windows 10 computer. There is an app on it too, but I didn't want to use that. I used the original program. So you might still be able to use your Windows 10 laptop. Supposedly, the new WMP app on Windows 11 will rip CDs. This article is almost 2 years old. https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-rip-a-cd-in-windows-11
