RENTON, Wash., May 7, 2024 – Today, HeR Interactive launches the latest game in the critically acclaimed Nancy Drew franchise, Nancy Drew®: Mystery of the Seven Keys™. In the highly anticipated game, players will be immersed in 3D environments that capture the heart of the historic city of Prague. Tasked with uncovering the truth behind the theft of a client’s heirloom necklace, players will sharpen their detective skills as they solve intricate puzzles woven throughout the rich narrative, investigate suspects, and search for clues as the iconic Nancy Drew. As the case deepens, Nancy finds herself entwined with medieval legends, alchemy, lore, and sinister cybercrimes as players uncover the real mystery behind the legend of the seven keys.

Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys is compatible with Windows® and Mac® operating systems and is available exclusively at herinteractive.com for $32.00.

“As one of the longest-running video game series, Nancy Drew has been engaging players for over 25 years with cases that let players solve intricate mysteries around the world,” said Penny Milliken, CEO of HeR Interactive. “Besides discovering new locales, our Nancy Drew games are recognized for their immersive storytelling, engaging gameplay, and emphasis on critical thinking. Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys will introduce many new gameplay features, including a unique dual navigation system. For the first time, players can choose between classic point-and-click or free-roam controls. In addition, the updated user interface and the introduction of novel interactions will also add to the overall player experience. These new features are thanks to the talented engineering teams at Unity’s Accelerate Solutions group and their best-in-class partners. Lastly, I appreciate all of the people who worked hard to bring this game to our fans worldwide.”

"Unity's Games & Entertainment Technology team is extraordinarily proud of the collaboration with HeR Interactive that led to Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys," said Adam Smith, VP Games, Entertainment and Technology. "We cannot wait to see the passionate Nancy Drew fanbase reaction to the game, and we want to congratulate HeR Interactive on the latest release in a long legacy of classic Nancy Drew titles!"

“Launch day for a new Nancy Drew game is always thrilling!” said Suzy O’Hara, Creative Director at HeR Interactive. “For us, it is a celebration of the creative and technical achievements of the great teams we have had the privilege to work with to bring this game to life. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, giving us so much inspiration to create our new game world. In Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys, each environment is meticulously crafted to immerse players into a world filled with danger, mystery, and multiple plot twists, moving players through over 20 hours of gameplay. Players will also encounter over ten suspects, each with a unique background and story to tell. Our collaboration with JALI Research, whose cutting-edge technology significantly enhances our character animations, facial expressions, and lip-syncing, allowed us to create more engaging and immersive experiences and memorable characters for our players.”

“HeR Interactive came to us with a desire to improve the facial animation pipeline for their new game,” said JALI CEO Sarah Watling. “The opportunity allowed us to go beyond just providing our software and work directly with the incredibly talented team at HeR Interactive to implement a new approach to facial animation on this exciting and ambitious story-driven game – a solution that allowed them to create even more realistic characters and dialogue on a tight independent budget.”

Game features include:

Travel to Prague for a mystery with 20+ hours of gameplay
Investigate a necklace theft that holds the key to unlocking the city’s dark past
Meet and interrogate 10+ unique characters and suspects
New dual navigation: choose between classic point-and-click or free-roam controls
Challenging puzzles are woven throughout the story, including logic, slider, code, arcade, hidden object, and more

Hi, Ana!

Thanks! It's been so long since I've played an adventure game that I wonder if I still know how lol ! I'll have to think about this one because, with the U.S. exchange rate of 37%, the price for the download works out to almost $44.

Susan

While I haven't played the game, I have been reading what early players are saying about the game on Reddit. Unfortunately, while there are a few who are enjoying it, all or many of the issues that plagued Midnight in Salem are also present in this game apparently: poor navigation, awkward interface, some frustrating puzzles that are poorly clued, a relatively empty game world, etc. What I have read about it thus far has already decided me that I will wait until it comes to Steam, and then only during a sale will I (maybe) purchase it.

Hopefully some of you will have more positive experiences, though. Just voicing my own thoughts.

I will buy it...I have a good GameBoomers friend who is enjoying it, at least to some degree. I disliked Salem, not sure I finished it, had issues with playability. I hope Seven Keys is not like that. I am Macintosh based, should that make a difference.

Thanks for posting, KatieB! Since my previous post, I have been reading some good things about the game as well and it sounds like while it does still have some nagging issues, it's better than Midnight in Salem. I also watched a bit of a playthrough on YouTube and I could see where some improvements have been made. I too hope that I will not encounter issues with playability. Most players seem to think that the "modern mode" (free roaming) plays better than the "point and click" (classic) mode. Again, not a fan, but perhaps I can adjust.

You can now pre-order the physical copy on the Her Interactive site.

The price is $32.00 with $13.81 shipping for USPS Economy (3 - 10 business days) for a total of $45.81.
I did not look at the prices of the other shipping methods - this was the cheapest.

No mention of when the game will ship.

I read this on HeR's website:

Quote
Our production run for these physical copies will only begin after all the orders are tallied. This means that everyone’s copy will be produced and then shipped simultaneously. We expect shipping to begin in July 2024. This is an exclusive offer that most game publishers don’t offer fans any longer. Shipping and delivery speeds will vary depending on your location and shipping type.

Nice to see you, LadyLinda! smile

A member at Mystery Manor is trying to play using the "classic" point and click mode and is having a hard time navigating. She is trying to soldier through, but is about to give up. She is one of those who gets motion sickness with some games, so it trying to make this work.

Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Yes, the feedback in general seems to be that the "free roam" option works better than the point and click, and that in fact it is easier to miss inventory items in point and click mode. One person commented that the point and click mode seemed more like an afterthought than anything else. I do understand that for some, though, the free roam option might be harder to adjust to.

I found the puzzles in this game to be ridiculously difficult. Had to consult a walkthrough often. If you haven't bought it yet, don't bother!!

I have been hearing that many of the puzzles in this game are difficult and that one of the main problems with them is that there just isn't enough direction and that they don't give you enough to go on. Even really skilled puzzle solvers on YouTube found them to be very tough.

Thank you for the feedback. So many people complained about Midnight in Salem being too easy and that there weren't enough puzzles and it sounds like this game went too far the other way. Maybe the third attempt (if there ever is one) will be the charm. wave

Yes, this is exactly what I've heard and seen on uTube reviews. The game designers definitely overcompensated.
