So glad you didn't have it worse than that, soot! I get really scared of the storms these days (but then I've turned into a total fraidy cat as I aged).

Drac, still no cicadas here. I am not complaining but wish they would come and go already so I can stop worrying about them.

Oh, my goodness. I'm so glad to hear you escaped any major damage. So many people were not so lucky. The pictures coming out of Houston a just awful.

Hagatha, minks are deadly little creatures!

I got some large rocks, heavy enough, I thought, and used them to block the hole under the fence. A dog on the street went after the mink and it raced into my garden and ran to the gap where I put the rocks. It literally tore them away and slipped through. I guess I'll have to have the fence extended down underneath. In the meantime, Dude is not allowed out after about 6 pm, when he comes home for dinner. He spends most of his time in the garden now, anyway, sitting on a chair. I think he knows now that being outside isn't all fun and games.

I'm hoping that being terrified a couple of times will dissuade the mink but if it hangs around too much and causes problems I'll call the Wildlife people.

Hi everyone, it's been cold, damp & raining here for the last few days, but I shouldn't complain because it's really helping with the forest fires up north. Have a great day everyone.

Judith, I was quite relieved to see that it's raining now, helping with the fires.

I haven't seen the beast all day today, and I was up early. It might have been a young one looking for a territory and mistaking my water feature for a navigable stream. We had a young beaver do that 30 years ago at our original holiday condo in Campbell River. It was a rather astonishing sight, a beaver in a very small pond that drained down to the beach. It finally realized that the pond wasn't what it was looking for, and left.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone, A sunny and warm but not hot spring day over here. Mr Appletree is blossoming and Mrs Sun is shining.

I'll provide some instant coffee and knäckebröd for emergency use until the real stuff arrives. No lutefisk available.

Happy Tuesday Gameboomers wave

Good Tuesday morning! Thanks for the LACK of the smell of lutefisk, Fogfighter! I'll take the smell of fresh-brewed WWDDB any day!

Supposed to be 90 degrees today and sunny. Maybe I can finally get in the tomato garden and replant a few that didn't make it. Still need to get my pepper plants in, but it's just been too muddy. On the downhill side of weeds - for now! Got my daylilies sprayed for daylily fungus yesterday. I always forget how MANY, MANY of them I have until I do something like that! Looking forward to all the blooms.

The cicadas are just deafening here. I just love the little creatures, but I will be glad when their singing is over! There are so many millions and millions of them I have to be careful I don't bring any inside!

Draclvr, this year's brood down here had a very different trill...and...not as deafening as they usually are.

Enjoyed a couple of your bagels this morning Connie...thanks.

We've got rain here today. I'm having an administrivia day today, making calls to various offices. I'm supposed to get updated appraisals on jewellery for my insurance and I've decided the wisest course of action is just to sell it all instead, except for the few pieces John bought me . I've had my Will updated, and now I need to get going on my passport renewal.

No sign of the mink today.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

well, the gardens are planted. there were a few broccoli plants that hubby threw out and i picked them up and saved them and put them in a small pot to give to the daughter. we will see if they make it. I love this time of year - the Baltimorioles and hummers abound. I just love it. this year I didn't see my grosbeak that I usually see and that is a bummer. and I didn't see my tanager that I usually see. but, my eyes are getting bad so maybe they were here but I just didn't catch it. this is my favorite time of the year. now to just see if my garden does anything. hubby and I are fighting like crazy as I said that the garden needs more fertilizer and he doesn't want to do it. jeez. we are depleting the garden and you have to put in the stuff. but, I guess if that is the only thing we are arguing about, that is probably good.

Hi, mbday! Nice to see you here! We got 96 tomatoes and about 40 peppers in. I am careful with the fertilizer, but the BEST way to know if you need it is to have a soil analysis done every year. We take samples in to our University Extension Office and tell them to analyze for vegetable gardening. We had to add lime this year to bring up the pH, but no nitrogen. You have a similar program where you live too.

I can hear my summer tanagers singing like mad and my hummers are nesting right now, so they have really slowed down. In a few weeks, I will be buried under them though!

Oldbroad, if you don't have cicadas by now, you have escaped them! I must have had 2 dozen on me today while I was working in the garden! Hubby said while he was using the tiller he was swarmed too. We just ignore them and when you stop, just brush them off. They are completely harmless.

Timing is everything!! I'm in time for Wide Awake Double dark Brew and Cinnamon Crunch bagels...the only way to start one's day. Draclvr, the cicadas always scare the heck out of me when I pull them off as they start singing (vibrating like crazy) which always catches me by surprise lol Sleep well OldBroad...we'll catch you later. Have fun on your walk Gerry, that's how I start every day unless it's raining cats and dogs. Have fun at bingo tonight Connie. I was gone this year when I would normally have started hummingbird feeders but have them up now and waiting for our little buddies to start their hovering operations...whispers, flits and hovers are truly a marvel of motion and stillness.

It's Hump Day 🐪 have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Wednesday morning! Was able to finish working in the vegetable gardens yesterday before we got some rain last night. On the downhill side of weeds, so the rain will make weed pulling easier.

Sunny and at least it's not 90 degrees like yesterday! Of course the cicadas are singing merrily!
