Coffee and Bagels! Thank you Good morning Connie, Gerry, OldBroad, Draclvr, Fogfighter, Hagatha and everyone else who gets the chance to pop in. Connie, could you put up bird feeders to bring them back? Those gnats earned the name "bug" as they do bug you! Chased a cicada off my car this morning as we were headed for walk. I'm off grocery shopping and wish you all a blessed day.

Good Tuesday morning! No gnats here yet, Gerry, but being knee-deep in cicadas makes up for it! Beautiful sunny day today.
Dental appointment this morning for me and hubby went fishing.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good morning everyone.
I have finally cured Willow of her early-morning yowling and am able to sleep until 6:30 or even 7 am. What a relief!
I'm off to Pilates this morning and then heading into Parksville for some shopping.
On the weekend I thought I'd better start exploring Nanaimo a bit, since I hadn't gone into the downtown area at all, mostly going north to Parksville and Qualicum Beach. Those are both attractive small towns on the water and have a lot to offer, so I feel no need to go anywhere else.
I have to say, downtown Nanaimo is the most desperate-feeling city I've seen in Canada. Now, Campbell River was a fairly industrial city at one time. The mill and the mine are now closed, and Campbell River has a fair number of homeless, but it doesn't feel desperate because it has a thriving tourist trade and a lot of retirees. Downtown Nanaimo, on the other hand, is ugly, dirty and depressed and feels unsafe. Most of the shopping is on the highway out of town going north, in a few large malls stretched out along several miles, and that's okay, but I would not venture out on my own at night in the downtown area. No thanks! Too bad; it's on the water and should be more attractive than it is.
It's raining again today. Hopefully we'll get a couple of days of sunshine so I can get more weeding done.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning Fogfighter, Gerry, Hagatha, Draclvr, OldBroad, Connie and y'all that get the chance to pop in. Waiting no longer for the wide awake double dark brew and loving it...enjoy your walk Gerry as mine was marvelous. Glad you got power back Fogfighter...that's a technology we all take for granted these days. Hoping some investors explore options for reinvigorating the old downtown area Hagatha...that's what's occured in many of our older downtown's after shopping moved to malls. I just read that we're experiencing two broods of cicadas this year...interesting. Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Soot, I think Nanaimo is the city that everyone drives past! It's where the ferry terminals to the Lower Mainland are, and it's on the way to Victoria and the north of the Island. I don't think anyone ever actually goes TO Nanaimo; everyone is on their way somewhere else.
I'll stick with Parksville and Qualicum Beach.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Thursday morning! I'm starting out slow this morning with a cup of DDWAB. Beautiful morning to sit here and listen to the hummingbirds and the cicadas! Planted a bunch more Asiatic Lily bulbs yesterday along the pool deck. I'm ready to get the pool open, but it's still too cold to get into one! But the grandkids from Colorado will be here in less than 2 weeks and they don't care!
Connie, I was reading about your hot and dry weather down there. We haven't even turned our AC on yet!

Good morning everyone.
It's gone back to cold here, and I'm really struggling to get out and work in the garden as a result. My lawn is in need of a mow so I'll get that done today, at least. Mostly I feel as though I just want to curl up on the couch and read or watch TV..
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Friday morning! Hubby started working on getting the pool open yesterday. It's not hugely difficult, just a lot of little things to do. It's full now, so he will get the filter going and start cleaning up the water today. Out here in the country we are on a well, so we don't have to pay for water to fill it.

Good morning everyone.
It's an absolutely gorgeous morning. I'm off to Pilates and then to the dentist.
I'm glad I don't have a pool. The pond is quite enough. There was also a hot tub here but I told the previous owners to take it with them, so at least I don't have to deal with that.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I couldn't live here without my pool! It is regularly 95 - 100+ degrees F for weeks on end in the summer. When I'm working outside, there is nothing like grabbing a beer and heading for the pool to cool off!
