Good morning Connie, Gerry, Fogfighter, Draclvr, OldBroad, Hagatha, Lex and Mad. The emergency coffee hit the spot Fogfighter. Fresh bagels had to be most excellent. Our coffee and bagels are the only way to start the day. Last minute preps for family get together at the lake...I'm off to shop and run errands. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Good Wednesday morning! Overcast, but warmish this morning. Giving away the last of my tomato plants and then the rest go into the compost.
I used to make my own bagels when my boys were little. They have an odd method of cooking to get that chewy texture. You let them rise and then boil them for a few minutes before baking in an oven! Heavenly straight out of the oven.

We've got some nasty spiders here in BC, including a Black Widow and a Hobo. I love the the wolf spiders; I had one many years ago living behind an unused basement toilet. We just left it alone because it was eating other creepy-crawlies that we didn't want.
It's a glorious day and now I really must get some yard work done.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Happy Wednesday to you all! Connie, Soot, enjoy your family get together! I don't know one spider from another but we do have a lot of spider webs in our house Finally had to break down and turn the AC on yesterday. Some kind of noisy trucks out in front of my house but I can't see what they are doing.

Good Thursday morning! Just have time for a quick cup of DDWAB this morning - heading in town for a haircut and then have to mow for a few hours. A glorious day here too!

Good morning everyone. We're also having a nice sunny day, at least for the moment.
I'm enjoying a nice coffee and watching birds splash in my water feature (which desperately needs cleaning). I'll be out for a walk with a neighbour later this morning and then I'll do some garden cleanup.
I'm pleased to say that great strides have been made on the cat behaviour front; Willow hardly ever howls at my door early in the morning these days, and Dude now comes in when I call him at around 10:30 pm. The latter makes me very happy since I was quite worried about him a few times. He gets rewarded with some Temptations, a.k.a. kitty crack.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter, and everyone. As always Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready...it smells so good! Sounds like everyone had a busy day yesterday. Soot did you have a nice day at the lake? Draclvr did you get the mowing done? Hagatha did you enjoy a nice walk? That is good news about Willow and Dude...happy cats! Fogfighter I know how frustrating internet issues can be...I have them most days...I am waiting for fiber optic cable to come to my street to improve my internet. Enjoy your day everyone! Gerry

Thanks for DDWAB Gerry. Always a good way to start the day. I'll provide some knäckebröd (flat dried rough bread) for emergency use until the bagels arrive. Indeed annoying with internet troubles. If I don't log in here for longer periods I'm either busy because hectic or lost connection. I keep my fingers crossed for your fibres Gerry and wish everyone here a happy Friday.

Good Friday morning! Connie, you are having some dreadful weather down there. Thankfully, our several weeks of tornados and severe weather appear to have ended for now. So many lives lost and more storms took lives in Michigan this week.
Yard looks beautiful after my 3 hours of mowing yesterday! The daylilies are starting to bloom and the pool is finally clear! Bring on the summer!
My neighbor has all kinds of critters and the ducks just came running across my yard! They are very young and she just started free ranging them about a week ago. They come running over here because we have cicadas to eat and they don't! Their property has been a crop field for decades, so no trees/no cicadas. They are so funny to watch - there are about 20 of them along with a white turkey. I call them the turkey overlord and his minions.
Our entertainment out here is cheap!

Happy Friday.
It's another lovely morning. After my Pilates I'm going to finish blowing and bagging all the cones and other assorted detritus on my patios and then I'll wash my car. I love my lightweight blower but it's only good for half an hour. Still, it's perfect for the masses of tiny evergreen cones that are everywhere. I can even use it to blow cones off my gravel parking area without disturbing the gravel itself.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I love my rechargeable blower too.
Forgot to ask earlier - how did you get Willow to let you sleep in, hagatha?

I have been ignoring her completely, for a start. I save half of her dinner until I go to bed and then put it out. Also, I am now setting an alarm every morning and absolutely not getting up until it goes off. Most mornings she doesn't bother me but it's difficult to re-program her after a lifetime of having somebody up on the night feeding and cuddling her, which John always did. It's an improvement and I no longer get woken up at 5 am.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Foffighter, soot, Connie, Draclvr, hagatha and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to start your day. Fogfighter I googled up knackebrod...it is actually available in the US, but very expensive here! Sounds like you are enjoying the lake with family soot. Connie glad the storms have past and all is well with you. Draclvr you had a nice relaxing day. Hagatha did you finish your yard work? Enjoy your day everyone! Gerry

Good morning Gerry, soot, Connie, Draclvr, hagatha and everyone! DDWAB saves the day. I'm glad the knäckebröd is available in other countries too. The thing with knäckebröd is that each bite produces a cloud of sharp dry tiny crumbs. Hint: don't eat knäckebröd in bed. Still it's an excellent food for surviving long cold winters. Popular buttered with cheese. You can either chew carefully or soak it in DDWAB. I'll provide a load of affordable locally baked knäckebröd for emergency use. Happy weekend Gameboomers

Good Saturday morning! Enjoying my DDWAB after making hubby his big breakfast. We just had to shoo the turkey overlord and his minions back to the neighbor's. They had gone over into the neighbor's yard on the other side of us and their bird dog was out and would have killed them all. He was already over at our neighbor who has the ducks and killed some of their chickens this morning. She is NOT happy. We charge the neighbor who owns the bird dog $25 per chicken if he kills any of ours... it has cost him a couple hundred bucks over the years.
Too much drama for a Saturday morning! At least our chickens were still locked up.
I grew up in NW Iowa where there is a huge Scandanavian population - I am a good part Norwegian. We had knäckebröd all the time!

Good afternoon everyone.
I had a nice day lounging on my back patio reading a book with Willow in my lap. It went up to 18 degrees this afternoon! Truly summer weather.
We're able to get versions of knäckebröd in most grocers. I often make lunches out of it with cheeses or various dips. Good stuff.
The yard work went well and I got most of the tiny cones swept up and into the organics bin (our regional garbage collection also takes all of our organics every week, which is great). I'll get the landscapers to do some work outside my fence next time since there won't be much for them to do otherwise.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
