Here is a young Canadian band that is comprised of two 15 and one 16 year old member that is worth a listen.

As you say, SQF, they sound promising - also keeping up Canada's reputation for some excellent bands! thumbsup

Only a couple of recorded tracks so far, but after hunting around a bit I found this longer session (although with low volume and distant view) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GVd4flnzYM

Oh, my. A good friend listens to music while he walks and this popped up for him and he posted a link to Youtube. It brought back a very old memory from a gazillion years ago. I was somewhere a guy was playing live in a small bar or something. He did "The City" and I just went somewhere else with him... eyes closed, grooving, kind of mouthing the words... No one else in the whole bar was paying attention to the music. When he finished, I looked at him and saw he had been watching me and I laughed and said, "Thank you!" He just grinned and nodded. Wow. The things music unlocks in your brain.

Mark Almond, The City

Thank you Drac - very cool: originally I only knew of them from John Mayall's album the Turning Point and at first assumed that Mark Almond was an individual...!

Here they are on a sort of reprise of The City https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpkQz03UcjU

and a good live album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWnMqHVlf3w

and back in the day with John Mayall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5PKnjYKHXU
cool

... and on a rather different note this is what someone sent me earlier today... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIAhzRR_I14&feature=youtu.be lol

That's great! I listened to John Mayall all the time... I also used to think it was Mark Almond instead of Mark-Almond! Good stuff there.

I first heard John Mayall on his album The Turning Point when I was 14. I still love that album.

Drac, I remember that song well.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Just back from Eric at the Albert Hall. While I would have liked him to play a few other tracks there is no denying he can still put on a show. And what a venue! I would thoroughly recommend if you are in London that you see anyone you can just to have the experience.

Wow, flotsam! What a great experience. I remember that line from the Beatles song, "A Day in the Life":

"Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall..."

Glad it was a good experience flotsam

Whilst I was aware of John Hiatt, I was not familiar with his work and have recently bought a couple of albums which I am playing on the car stereo, I have also seen some good collaborations on youtube including this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqgCEK1Dkzg
and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN-...Oew&start_radio=1&rv=gYzwnxLwKZg

Regrettably no Lex. We were on the same side but higher up and further round towards the front of the stage.
Have you ever been?

I saw Clapton here in St. Louis a long time ago. An epic experience!

In my student days I was lucky enough to spend time living in both London and Paris, seeing various shows/artists in various spectacular (and some less salubrious) venues in both cities: I am pretty sure these included at least one trip to the Albert Hall, but I cannot remember who/what I might have seen there...! crazy

These two pretty songs remind me of a long-ago time in my life. I'd forgotten all about them, and then all of a sudden they were just there in my head and I remembered every word and note.

They take me back to when I was about 22-23. Cottage country, on a weekend, glass of wine and a couple of friends.

My Pilates class has a playlist that makes me cringe, mostly because it's at least half Taylor Swift. Ugh. It gets to be a dreadful earworm, so this is what I put on as soon as I get into my car:

And then there's this other luminary lost to us far too soon:

Steve Forbert was new to me, perhaps not having made much of a splash in UK, perhaps because his music sounds as if it should have been earlier than the late 70s (although none the worse for that) - thanks for posting those links, and of course Jimi and Stevie Ray as the antidote to Taylor Swift! thumbsup lol

Meanwhile, this is a singer I have only just noticed from the latest Rebus series but but who seems to have had songs on various soundtracks previously and been involved in quite a few different musical styles and collaborations

I remember the second of the Steve Forbert links and have a copy of that album somewhere. I had completely forgotten about it so thanks for the reminder.
Mr Commons I will investigate further smile

Time flies and I'm getting older. Twenty years ago local singer/songwriter Louise Hoffsten published the album

Knäckebröd Blues

Despite being diagnosed with MS decades ago she has been very prolific and produced lots of songs and is still performing. She is singing both in English and Swedish language. I have the (English language) Knäckebröd Blues in my CD collection.

Here a link to the album on Spotify.

You know, I always say I don't like country, but I do like a lot of it, when it comes right down to it. That was a good track, SQF.
