Good morning everyone. The emergency supply of instant coffee and knäckebröd in the break room is dwindling. You only got one ration each. But hang in there, no doubt the real stuff will arrive soon. No cat drama for me but yesterday I saw some neigbour's cat proudly walking past me with his catch of some unfortunate mouse. Happy Wednesday Gameboomers

Need. Gerry's. DDWAB.
Sheesh, just started my morning by trying to get the turkey overlord and his minions back home to the neighbor's place. This time they were about 3/4 mile down the road the OTHER way! And IN the road! I got a call from an employee of the horse rescue telling me she saw them on the way to work. So, I just spent the last hour trying to herd them home. This is a winding narrow blacktop road, but there is a lot of traffic this time of the morning. Finally got them about halfway home and then lost them in the tall weeds. I will probably have a gazillion ticks on me! I changed clothes as soon as I got back home. I texted my neighbor that I tried and they are now on their own - I hadn't even had my morning coffee yet! LOL!
Picking the Germans up at the airport this afternoon. Then it's son and family from Colorado tomorrow night.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Whoa, Draclvr, that's a bit too busy for me! I'd be hightailing it out of town and leaving everyone to their own devices.
I'm going for my COVID shot this morning and then ridding my gravel areas of the remaining tiny cones that have drifted back. Then I need to get the pond guy over here -- they haven't returned my call and I'm just about ready to empty the pond myself with a bucket and leave it turned off. Me thinks the otter was swimming in there more than I knew and has contaminated the water. It need to be cleaned asap!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yes, hagatha, my summers are pretty much a Drac's Bed & Breakfast! Germans will stay with hubby's sister for a week while son and granddaughter are here.

Good Thursday morning! Gerry, I guess at my age of 76, it's either keep moving or just sit around and I just can't sit around and look at all the things that need doing. I am a chip off my mother's block!
Got the Germans yesterday and they are staying with other family for a week. My son and granddaughter will be arriving about 8 or 9 tonight after a long 12 hour day of driving from Colorado. And this morning, I have a big tour down at the horse rescue ranch.
I am being lazy and throwing a chuck roast in a crock pot all day for Italian roast beef sandwiches and another crock pot of calico beans for them to have something to eat when they get here. Just have to make up beds for them.
Supposed to be 95 degrees today! Thank goodness the pool is open!

Good morning everyone.
I did get my pond cleared out. The fellow who came to do the work said that the only other pond he'd seen with water that went green so fast was another customer who had seen an otter in their pond! So I guess the trick is to keep them out of the yard.
I have a mystery mechanical noise in my house that woke me up this morning. It sounds like a motorbike or a generator, and It's happened a few times now, starting and then stopping after about half an hour. I've had the HVAC guys out twice but they can't seem to isolate it. I even went down into the three-foot crawl space this morning and crawled around trying to see if I could work out exactly where the noise was coming from, but the noise is pretty diffused down there and it's actually louder upstairs!.
This morning I noticed that the noise started up when the sprinklers came on and stopped when they turned off. Unfortunately that doesn't explain why sometimes the noise starts at night, but come to think of it the occurrences started after I had my watering system turned on in the Spring. More detective work required.

Good Morning and Happy Friday Connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Connie good luck at the conference. Soot all my siblings and their families use to gather together on the holidays at my parents home back in the day too. Draclvr long days for you ahead! Hagatha sounds like you may have solved the mystery noise...is the sprinkler on a timer? Could it be set to go on during the night? Do you have a dehumidifier that turns on and off that might be causing the noise? Hope you all enjoy a sunny day! Gerry

Good Friday morning! Another toasty day ahead, but at least I'm not doing a huge tour down at the Ranch!
Son and granddaughter arrived last night, so all visitors are here. The Germans are enjoying their stay with other family.
Today is mowing day for me, so 3 hours on the riding mower as soon as the grass dries out. Hubby got his nerve block on Monday and doing somewhat better, but is not ready for the jostling and bumps on the mower.
Connie, have fun at your conference! Sounds like you may have identified half of your problem, hagatha!

Good morning all. We're having a rainy day today.
Gerry, I'm pretty sure it's the irrigation, maybe a valve, or the water pressure is too high or low. It's loudest in the living room, which makes sense, since that's where the water connection to the irrigation goes through the foundation. I've been describing the noise as sounding like a motorbike, but perhaps a plumber would understand me if I said it was like muffled fast hammering. Anyway, I'm almost certain that's the issue. I pity the plumber who has to crawl 50 feet under my house to get from the access hatch to the water connection, though. My HVAC contractor always send me their youngest, smallest employee. I should get down there with a vacuum and at least clear a path.
In spite of the pouring rain, Dude is out there patrolling and marking his territory every day. His grand adventure is over, though; he's finally accepted that his territory extends to the fence and no farther. And the neighbouring cats all stop at the edge of the fence, so everyone knows what's what. He checks in several times a day and always comes in when I open the door at 10:30 p.m. No more roaming and making me worry. Right now he's racing up and down the hallway trying to get me, or Willow, to chase him.

Oldbroad, it's hard to recognize that a much-loved pet is on the downward spiral. That's the hard part of having fur babies.; they burn bright for a few years and then they're gone. I still my old girls Moggy and Rachel.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning Gerry, Connie, Hagatha, OldBroad, Draclvr and all other visitors. I brought a Panera Bread Bagel Pack, Brownies, Pecan Braids and Chocolate Croissants for the Break Room this morning. You are spot on Hagatha...our little furry children spend their entire life with us whereas it's always too short a time from our perspective. Best wishes with finding and fixing your water valve noise. Enjoying your Dude tales! Gerry, the coffee is marvelous and I'm enjoying it with a chocolate croissant this morning...our feel like temps will be in the 100s today. OldBroad, I totally understand and appreciate your and brother's position...we've been down that road with all of our little furry children...it's part of the great circle of life. Keeping you, brother and his little one in my thoughts and prayers. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone ... stay safe!
