I went online looking for savegames and found the .plr file. When I installed it I was able to continue the game for a little while. I'm going to have to go back to that list of savegames and download another one for where I am now. It's distressing tendency to crash is really bad.

When you opened the Zip file did you Extract everything, You should see/have a Folder called Games and a Folder called players, if you don't see that folder, go back to your Zip file and make sure to extract it. Then open the players folder and you Should see a file called:
ZENS.PLR, that is the file you Must copy to Your players folder in Your game and then follow the previous instructions to get the Loaded saved games.

I do have the .plr file and put it in the players folder. That's what allowed the game to continue with Jens as the player. But even so, the game keeps crashing every few minutes and I'm getting ready to throw in the towel. I have all the savegames and keep loading them into the game folder and try to play it that way, but it's really tiring.

That hardly sounds worth it, Melia. Gaming is supposed to be fun, not exasperating and tiring. There are too many good games out there. I've read a lot of negative things about this game in general.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.
