Good morning everyone.
It seems that my pond has sprung a leak. I noticed that the water level had dropped precipitously yesterday. Hoping it was evaporation, I filled it up again, but it's dropped an inch overnight. No idea how that could have happened, but it is a fabric pond, not a concrete one, and it's 8 years old, so I now have to make some decisions about its future. I will keep it since it is a lovely feature, but the question now is whether to take the pond out of the equation and just have a stream, which comes with far fewer cleaning and freezing problems.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Could the teeth or claws of your aquatic visitors maybe have done some damage, hagatha ??

Mad, that was my first thought too!
More rain last night... we are nearing 10" in just 3 days. Was able to get into the garden last night and got a nice bucket of cucumbers. I feel a sour cream cucumber salad coming on!
Have been through a couple cups of DDWAB this morning as I was working on a walkthrough... it was very welcome!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Mad, Draclvr, the aquatic visitors have thankfully not been around for several weeks. Between the dog, me, and the rock barrier under the fence, the poor thing was terrified and hasn't been back.
The pond maintenance company suggested I turn off the pump and see what happens. The shallow stream and waterfall apparently contribute to evaporation. I've had the pump off all day, and I think they're correct; the water is evaporating quicky in this heat. I'll leave it off until I go to bed tonight, but it seems okay. I don't like turning it off because birds rely on it for water and bathing.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, that does sound logical with your temperatures and the moving water. What if you turn it off during the night and turn it back on during the day? Or vice/versa?

Good Saturday morning! Pancakes, sausage and eggs for breakfast this morning. This is Petra's favorite! They like the syrup I found so much they are taking a bottle back to Germany.
Big pot luck later at friends who live even further out in the country than we do! I picked enough cucumbers last night to make marinated cucumbers and onions to bring along.
Beautiful day here after all that rain. Will get more maintenance weeding done before we leave while the weed pulling is good in the soft soil!

Good morning everyone.
Today is outside cleanup day.
After 12 hours of direct hot sun and no water stream, the stones in my stream all dried out and the algae died, so I now have a nice, clean water feature.
I hosed down the outside of the house this morning, got the Hardi-Plank siding and white barge-board trims looking nice and clean and bug-free. I was going to hire someone to come and do it, but my house is small enough that I can actually keep the outside pretty clean myself with the hose and spray nozzle, as long as I don't let it get too dirty. It takes less than an hour to spruce up the place.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone. Emergency rations of instant coffee and knäckebröd available in the break room. Over here 20 degrees Celsius and sunshine. However Mr Wind and Mr Rain are supposed to arrive later today. Other parts of Sweden already affected. This is definitely NOT going to be the hottest summer ever. Happy Sunday everyone. With or without sunshine.

Good morning Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, OldBroad, Hagatha, Draclvr, Mad and everyone else who gets the chance to pop in for coffee and treats. Birds, hummingbirds, squirrels, chipmunks, bees, and frog duties this morning...cleaning, refilling and rinsing. We had a wonderful walk this morning before the heat kicked in. Enjoyed the instant coffee and knäckebröd, wide awake double dark brew and bagels...it just doesn't get much better than this on a Sunday morning. Whew Draclvr and Hagatha, you two were very busy bees yesterday...hope you get some time off today. A cooler summer is goodness Fogfighter. Time to relax and listen to my whale music (ambient space music). Wishing you all a blessed Sunday!

Good Sunday morning! I'm glad the cleaning up at the party we went to yesterday is not mine! Our friends have such a beautiful place with a 4 acre lake. And the weather was gorgeous. Lake had lots of kids playing and swimming and fishing.
Since my step-daughter and her SO are in town to visit with her cousins, the Germans, I'm doing steaks for everyone tonight. Or rather, hubby is doing the steaks and I'm doing the rest! Step-daughter has a special request for broccoli with nothing more than butter, salt and pepper, so that's easy! Have some zucchini I'm going to try a new recipe for. I always do a fabulous pasta with porcini mushrooms, loads of garlic, butter and parmesan cheese. Hubby will also make a sour cream cucumber salad. It will be a feast!
And then I'm done cooking for the rest of the week!

Good morning everyone.
We're having another hot, clear day. I'm off to a local art market/festival with a friend. It'll be hot and busy, so we probably won't stay too long, but I wanted to check it out at least. Parksville has a lot going on in July and although I tend to avoid crowds, I really do need to get out and see at least a couple of things, like the Sandcastle event.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yeah, even just a couple of hours to see what's out there is good for the soul! The sandcastle event sounds pretty cool.

The art market was really wonderful. I didn't buy anything, but took some business cards. There was some spectacular jewellery in one tent, all hand-woven filigree silver chains with interesting stones and gold. Not cheap, but gorgeous if you're looking for a statement piece. There was also a potter who makes wonderful pieces that look like ancient Chinese pottery. I'm definitely getting some of that. It's actually a sand sculpture event, part of Parksville's summer events. here are pictures of some of the sculptures from previous years: https://www.bing.com/images/search?...Sand+sculpture&form=IGRE&first=1
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
