Good morning everyone.
It's still very warm here, but last night we had a lovely breeze from the ocean and my friend and I sat out on the patio long after dark. Something was flying around in the garden and both cats were chasing them -- moths, maybe? Anyway, it was most entertaining watching them. Willow has never been out after dark and the little monster liked it so much she flatly refused to come in until later, when she followed Dude in. I guess they were hanging out together out there.
I realized that it's not insects but deer that are eating my lovely acer in the front garden, so I guess I'll have to keep the gates closed from now on. I do have a man-gate, so people can still get in.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Thanks for the coffee Gerry. I was watching the Aniara movie late last night. Available on local television. So slept well this morning. Over here the pleasant weather weather continues. ~22 Celsius and cloudy. I think those who enjoy swimming and outdoors acitivities might wish for a bit warmer and sunnier. But for me it's perfect. Happy Saturday Gameboomers

Good Saturday morning! Just sitting down after feeding everyone... mixing up med for the cats, fed the Germans and hubby and finally fed the hungry hummingbirds! Now, it's time for my DDWAB and a few minutes checking my tech and gaming forums.
Today is cooking day for me after having the whole week off. We had a giant whole ham in the freezer that really needed to be used. So hubby is going to work his magic with the ham and I'll do mashed potatoes and thaw out some sweet corn from last year. Guenter is making a salad, so we will have a nice little feast tonight. Then I'm off the hook until next weekend!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good Morning Gerry, Fogfighter, Connie, Draclvr and everyone. Woot, the weekend is here! Got my walk in this morning and a couple of projects completed and now it's time to get ready for some DnD action. Oh my gosh Gerry, I wish we had an on/off switch to turn our minds off when we go to bed...I don't like when that happens...getting back to sleep doesn't happen. Whoa Fogfighter, that is my kind of SciFi movie...looks fascinating. Have fun at Eagles tonight Connie. Enjoy your feast tonight Draclvr. The DDWAB and bagels are wonderful! Happy Saturday everyone

My new fridge arrived at 7 am, and I was up early to empty the old fridge and put everything into coolers. I'll have to wait until Monday for the water to be hooked up for the ice and cold water dispenser. I had a tough time finding a fridge that fit into the small existing space so I ended up with a fancier one than I had anticipated buying. This one is a "smart" fridge, whatever that means. It's very nice, anyway. I'll have a look through the manual once it's all up and running with the water.
Gerry, I have been plagued with insomnia on and off all my life. It's miserable. Hopefully you'll be so tired you'll sleep tonight.

Good Morning, Fogfighter, Connie, Draclvr, soot, hagatha and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready...I've already had 2 cups! You are right about that soot...it is hard to turn the mind off when it's time to sleep. Hagatha I have been experiencing sleepless nights since my Bill passed last October. Slept about 4 hour last night enough to feel a little better. Hope you all enjoy a peaceful Sunday! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Great to wake up to the smell of DDWAB. I'll throw in some emergency rations of knäckebröd while we wait for the DDB. Dan: the Aniara movie is indeed SF. Based on possibly the only Nobel Prize awarded SF poem. A bit depressive though, and slow. A slow mottion collapse of the Aniara society. Hagatha: congrats to the smart fridge. Does it play Riven? or chess at least? All: over here yet a cloudy and un-hot day. If you guys have too many fahrenheits I'd be happy to take some of them. Happy Sunday Gameboomers

Good Sunday morning! Emptied the dishwasher at midnight and loaded it up again! Impromptu family dinner last night was wonderful, but I'm done cooking for the rest of the week! And Guenter is going to make his German goulash next weekend. They head back to Germany on July 24.
Hot, hot and more hot here in east central Missouri... maybe nearing 100 degrees F by Tuesday.
Just going to sit here and enjoy my DDWAB this morning.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Fogfighter, I'm not sure how smart my fridge really is. So far it's just sitting there making things cold and has shown no signs of intelligence. Hasn't even said hello yet. Maybe it doesn't like me?
We're finally having a break from the heat. Even with the watering system in my garden the lager trees are looking parched so I've been giving them each a few hours of deep-root watering so they can make it through August and September. And my pond need filling every few days. Normally by now this area is under watering restrictions but I guess the rain we had in June has held that off for a bit.
My friend went back to Manitoba on Friday and part of yesterday was spent sorting through the really old stuff in the fridge and freezer, deciding what to keep and what to turf. Looks like I'll be eating shrimp gyoza for a couple of days!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Draclvr, Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Hagatha and everyone else who gets the chance to pop in oday. Woo Hoo a day of rest ... once I get my daily chores done that is. Gerry, happy to hear you got some rest last night. Draclvr, sounds like next week will be the perfect opportunity to stay indoors and enjoy Gerry's DDWAB. Connie, I treasure those mornings also! Yes Fogfighter, I watched the trailer and put this movie on my watch list and I did get the impression Aniara was dispiriting. Oh my Hagatha, a smart fridge, be sure to stay aware of where it surfs on the internet. Happy Sunday everyone

Good Monday morning! Heat advisory for us today and tomorrow, so I will need to get my outside work done this morning.
JOY! We had our first BLT's for supper last night! I had two huge Cherokee Purple tomatoes that were ripe... it may have been a religious experience! For those who don't know, a BLT is a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich on lightly toasted bread.

Good morning everyone.
It's back to Pilates this morning after a three and a half week break; the instructor was away and then last week I had my friend visiting. I'm not really looking forward to it because of late it seems my bones are aching and my lower back hurts. I'm suspecting that my thyroid medication isn't quite right. I may have to step back into Chair Yoga instead, but once you lose your place in Pilates, it's impossible to get back in because the classes are so small.
Draclvr, I miss having a greenhouse. John and I always grew tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers in there, and we had lettuces in the raised beds we shared with the neighbours. After he got too sick we abandoned the garden as he could no longer enjoy it. I've been toying with the idea of a greenhouse here. I have lots of room.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning soot, Fogfighter, Connie, Draclvr, hagatha! Wide Awake double Dark Brew is on and smells so good this morning! Enjoy! No break here form the oppressive humidity and high temps...we are breaking records for heat every daythis month...same thing happened in June too. Good morning Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Hagatha, Draclvr and all other visitors. We had a very enjoyable 71 degrees this morning Gerry for our walk and I am enjoying your Wide Awake double Dark Brew with Connie's Danish and Fogfighter's knäckebröd. Hagatha, a greenhouse sounds like fun. Draclvr, I'll bet those BLT's were heavenly! Errands and groceries are on my docket today. Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.
